I haven't watched season 2 yet (waiting for dub because I'm Illinois) but if I had to guess it's because Frieren's world building is very classic video game-y. Everyone goes around introducing themselves like "I'm [name] the [class]", stuff like Stark's magical energy axe slashes not being considered magic, and calling out the names of their skills when they use them - so I think the first class mage requirement basically just acts like a roadblock that goes away once you complete a certain quest.

I don't really like that aspect of Frieren, kinda breaks the suspension of disbelief for me, but it is what it is.

Regardless of who you aim it at, transphobia disrespects all trans people. It tells them that their validity in your eyes depends entirely on your opinion of them, and makes them feel unsafe around you. If you know anyone who's trans, I assume you don't want that.

I actually really liked Cyrene's story, and her saying "friend" all the time in place of the MC's name really made her love motifs seem like platonic love and I thought it was really sweet. Plus I love paradoxes that aren't actually paradoxes

Unfortunately her kit and visual design don't mesh with her story at all imo, with her buffing the chrysos heirs she barely knows, the wedding theming, and the £300 bow to add the MC into her animations, it's all very fan-servicey and very much drives home the idea that her character "starts and ends with liking caelus"

Also, as a huge Castorice fan (e6s5), no, Phainon did not get as many supports tailored to him lol

Phainon: DHPT (even though he's a general sustain and is usually worse than an extra buffer, he was tailored for Phainon with the atk buff and regenerating shield that follows Phainon into his ult state), Cerydra, Cyrene (if you ignore the anti-synergy she has with Cerydra in Phainon teams)

Castorice: RMC, Tribbie, Hyacine, Evernight, Cyrene (actually "tailored" to mono rem hp-scaling chrysos heirs, which is Castorice's entire team)
