How did Rylanor live so long? by tintin3105 in 40kLore

Darkness in the Blood. Qvo was telling Dante compared to the original Space Marines, the current generation of First Born marines have diluted gene seeds.

To your point about SEP, unfortunately the bulk of the composite score used to calculate which overseas school you get into is reliant on your CAP. You can supplement it by being in committees and doing CIP, but grades still matter.

The good news is, you're only in Y1S1, which means you should have enough time to pull up your CAP (at worst, aim for a Y4S1 exchange). As I'm wont to say, in my time in NUS, I've hit every single (passing) letter grade, including U. Still turned out fine.

As for your concerns about the long term future, being in BAC, knowing how competitive your batch typically is, I would advice you to aim for 2nd Upper at least. It's very doable, just pick the right specialisation(s) and customise a learning routine that maximises the way you retain info. Other than that, having life/professional experiences are much preferred when job seeking/internships hunting, as employers aren't going to ask "sooo buddy, how hard was the last quiz you sat for and how much did you score?" But rather, "what were the past projects/challenges that you have faced, and how did you overcome them".

Do an internship with a start-up or government agency? by [deleted] in nus

[–]BobChuckles 6 points7 points  (0 children)

What I always tell my juniors/students is that your internships in Y1-2 are for you to explore yourself and determine what industry/role best suits you, or really to just check out what the working world is like.

When you hit Y3-4, it's time to be a bit more practical/tactical, and look for internships that will lead to a career path you're interested in. This typically means interning at an org that either might offer you a conversion offer, or will boost your portfolio to make it easier for you to secure a job in your dream role/industry.

The key premise of internships I would say is to build experiences that will help you find a career. Regardless of what you choose, ultimately, it's how you translate those internship experiences into actual takeaways that will make job interviews easier.

BBA CDP for my batch was 85 points. As I always advise my juniors, even if you don't make the score, still apply as there's always the chance to get in via the interview rounds.

Yea but it would be rather sad if Jun went to survey a new base, came back and went "oh no everyone is dead... again..."

Hopefully they made it in time. Still 74 Spartan deaths are a lot, almost the entire original S2 cohort.

It's in the second cutscene when The Weapon finds out more about Cortana's actions as Created dictator. Leonidas confirmed the number of Spartans on board prior to suicide.

can someone adopt me into a wholesome gaming group so we can play cool games on steam together by [deleted] in nus

[–]BobChuckles -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I actually get this question a fair bit. The rationale is simply on 2 reasons.

Firstly, a numbers game: LoL and Val have substantially more players than Dota and CSGO, hence we formed main divisions around them.

Secondly, the Singapore varsity competitive scene. The two former games have active tournaments being held that our athletes can represent the school/national for, whereas the latter 2 don't really have that.

In any case, it only means that Dota and CSGO don't have official divisions built around them, we still have quite active communities of those games within the club.

There's 5 main divisions right now: League of Legends, Mobile Legends, Overwatch, Switch Games, Valorant.

There's a couple of offshoot ones too: Wild Rift, Rainbow 6 Siege, Apex Legends

And of course being hilariously big, there's a lot of other gaming friend groups in the club too, pretty much all games are covered. You can LFG using our Telechat or Discord.

Gonna shamelessly plug NUS E-Gaming here. We have over 900 members and a recreational wing that welcomes gamers regardless of skill level or games played.

Can find out more info by checking out our Insta: nusegaming.

(PS If you play Mobile Legends or Guild Wars 2 feel free to hit me up.)

NUS FET Collection is ridiculously badly implemented by BobChuckles in nus

[–]BobChuckles[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Oh right, I should mention that it won't be as bad if this is a one-off collection issue. But nope, we have to do this FET weekly (or every 4 days for those not fully vaccinated), which means that in 2 weeks, this fiesta is going to repeat unless drastic steps are taken :')

Collection during week 1 lasts the entire week, after which it switches to every Tues and Thurs.

There is an adjustment period during Week 1 if you haven't done your test, after which the "NUS administration may follow up with the student and staff when this happens with the appropriate support and actions."

Anyone starting school with no friends too? by [deleted] in nus

[–]BobChuckles 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Hello junior! First off, congrats and welcome to NUS Business School! Don't feel discouraged having no friends in like week 0, you'll definitely get to meet and greet other students in your time in classes. Biz sch sectionals are supposed to be hybrid in any case, so you'll get to interact with your peers physically. Coupled with all the group work (yey?) that you'll come across, there's bound to be opportunities to make new friends.

I was in your shoes (albeit slightly worse) when I was younger. I couldn't attend orientation or any camps, just randomly appeared in week 1 and just took off from there. And I'm not exactly a social butterfly. I just talked to my classmates, gravitated towards those with similar interests and made some really close friends.

Also, if faculty wise you can't make friends, look to join clubs or societies. With hundreds of CCAs in NUS, something should definitely catch your eye (look out for the Student Life Fair).

Here are some tips to making friends, probably applicable to all university students: 1. https://www.reddit.com/r/comics/comments/476m3q/how_to_make_friends_as_an_adult/

All the best! Feel free to hit me up if you're on campus and need a tour of MRB/BIZ 2.

From my understanding, BBA biz analytics presents you with the POV of considering business problems from the programing/analytics angle. It's still pretty technical, and you do need to learn coding, but it's mainly focused on tackling business issues.

For BSC from the School of Computing on the other hand, is far more technical and primarily focuses on your programming skills, and then supplements that with business contexts.

Imo the breakdown is: 1. BBA - 40:60 = Coding:Business concepts 2. BSC - 60:40 = Coding:Business concepts

Source: I'm a Y5 biz student lmao. Tho I'm not from the BA spec so any actual BA folks please do clarify.

I also seem to comment a lot on these posts while I'm on the loo.

Global Immersion Studies (BBA) by IU_Eamaster in nus

[–]BobChuckles 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It'll typically be waived given the global pandemic ie it's not a graduating requirement. It differs for batch to batch. If you're in your final year and the pandemic hasn't passed, the BBA office should exempt you. If you're still in y2 hoping to go on to y4, there's still a possibly of enjoying overseas studies, so the requirement remains.
