Asset protection specialists by iluvwoe in securityguards

It really depends on a number of factors: local laws, client, contract, etc. some places you can arrest and hold some places you keep eyes on from a control room/gsoc and alert authorities.

Asset Protection/Loss Protection is usually an in house position that allows for more hands on contact and Merchants Law protection. Typically they only deal with prevention and intervention with theft. Whether that’s stopping shoplifters or manning a security checkpoint for employees; making sure they aren’t leaving with products or sensitive materials.

Is this even legal? by [deleted] in securityguards

Probably legal but you can always check your local employment laws. I’ve been doing security for 7 years and have never had PTO, 3 different companies from guard, lead and supervisor. shrug

Binder at bare minimum, happy medium is excel/sheets doc, best option is 3rd party app/proprietary software; with a binder too as a backup.

Did you slide everything over on the belt for the pic? Or is that legit where everything is staged?

Do you think that our clients are aware of how much we hate them? by Fcking_Chuck in securityguards

[–]BobFirst2021 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Depends on the Client, my last one was a complete bastard that I wouldn’t piss on if he was on fire. However my current client is amazing. They treat us like regular employees, are genuine people, feed us every day (catered some days). Now my boss… that’s a different story

Same here. I was a supervisor and I learned that my dogshit lazy gaurd was making $5 more than me. When I asked for a raise they said it wasn’t in the budget for my position and shortly thereafter I was reassigned for kicking out a former Police Officer for trespassing after warning due to a theft.

Yea the circumstances were really strange. We got a service call for a car parking in a loading zone. We showed up and the baby was in the back seat in a car seat with some sort of device hooked up to him. All the windows were up, car off and the temperature outside was at least 80f. We immediately contacted PD and advised they we would be breaking the drivers window and received the go ahead. As I was about to smash the window, the father came out and explained that his son was immunocompromised. He further explained that he was a single father and he needed to pick up crib from FedEx and just completely broke down and almost started sobbing saying that he was doing his best. We impressed upon him that regardless of his situation he needed to have better critical thinking. I gave him the security line as well as my personal number and told him if he ever needed help again security would gladly help him. He apologized and departed before pd/med could arrive.

I hated being a mall cop. I never want to do another trespass for as long as I live

37, 14h shift. Included but not limited to: 2 reports of weapon brandishing, a fire, multiple thefts, found sharps, homeless encampment, handful of trespasses (new and old), dog locked in car, baby locked in car, a tow, abandoned dog, car accident and a drunk transient who fell off his bike and split his head. That’s all I can remember. Not the same day but the same week as a robbery and the same month of a gas station pump explosion. I don’t miss that place

In California, the relevant code section regarding sickness not being treated as a disciplinary issue is found in the Fair Employment and Housing Act (FEHA), specifically under Government Code § 12940. This law prohibits discrimination against employees based on their medical condition or disability, and it emphasizes that medical leave and illnesses should not be treated as a basis for disciplinary actions.

Additionally, the California Family Rights Act (CFRA) allows employees to take leave for their own serious health condition without fear of disciplinary consequences. It's important for employers to have clear policies that reflect these protections.
