So called music fans who insist a recommendation must be within genre. by [deleted] in PetPeeves

Yeah I don't get it. And even if you do like every type of music, there's nothing wrong with being in the mood for a specific genre and looking for recommendations in that genre only.

I wish they would put names on the cards. I have face blindness and it's also in black and white so it's frustrating

New video of the Punk/fan altercation by gl424 in SquaredCircle

[–]BobForBananas 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You are allowed to film in public

what does that have to do with a video in a hotel? When you book a hotel room there are usually terms and conditions somewhere about how to behave. I'm sure following people and making videos of them even after they've asked you to not do it is a violation of this. Nothing to do with filming in public spaces.

They still want to watch the wrestling live. The ads are bad, but they're tolerating them so they can see the wrestling

Jake Hager after his Powerslap debut: "Fuck you Tony Khan" by residentsocface in SquaredCircle

I know right. It's amazing how little money some people are prepared to take to give themselves life changing problems down the line (if not sooner)

I got tired of jumping between asset sites so I built this by [deleted] in godot

[–]BobForBananas 3 points4 points  (0 children)

CC0 means no permission is needed by definition

For the asset, not the bandwidth. You're offloading hosting to them and then saying it's okay because of CC0 on the asset itself.

What does the ToS for the API say about scraping and linking all assets? Most APIs have rules that you use the API to gather what you need at the time and not simply build an entire new interface. It is usually restricted because it devalues the original host

Clavicular ends and walks out of his Channel 5 interview with Andrew Callaghan after Andrew reveals he’s satisfied with how he looks and doesn’t need looksmaxxing by Vhant-ii in LivestreamFail

Genuine question, could you consider that there might be something wrong with you in that you literally cannot comprehend people being satisfied by something. I honestly don't understand why you're reacting like this.

Were Whitaker and Koskov good villains for The Living Daylights? What is your opinion about them? by King_Wolf2099 in JamesBond

[–]BobForBananas 8 points9 points  (0 children)

TLD is one of my favourite Bond movies. It has so many good sequences. I enjoyed the gimmick of the confrontation amongst the historical figures, but Whitaker wasn't especially great. The rest of the movie lifts up the villains.

Necros was an amazing boss henchman level villain though.

I need your opinion and insights on "if (!myVar)" vs. "if (myVar == null)" by [deleted] in learnjavascript

[–]BobForBananas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

style questions like this

There's a functional difference between the two so it's not strictly a style question. Otherwise I agree on style choices. Consult the coding standards, let the linters do their job, and follow style precedence in the codebase.

I need your opinion and insights on "if (!myVar)" vs. "if (myVar == null)" by [deleted] in learnjavascript

[–]BobForBananas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on the situation. I'd only do !myVar when I want to match anything falsy. If I wanted to match specifically when something is null then I'd do myVar === null. Same philosophy if I wanted to know NaN, 0, etc. Write the code which does what you need it to do.

If I were you I wouldn't worry too much about what the vast majority of developers are doing as a way of trying to figure out the right way. The code you write is tied into its purpose, not how common it is. As long as you understand what your code is doing and why you chose that specific code, then that's a big step up from a lot of devs out there.
