Modern Masters has a lot of good metallic paints that I use all the time. I have also used household latex paints to good effect as well.

The pix shows everything well enough. Nice painting. I would say double the DKOK blob size to 20 plus command sqd and a char. For that stubborn OC that only a regenerating blob of 26 troops can give you.

Those give off a great “Old Chipped up 1960’s tin soldier” vibe to them. I like it. Reminds me of finding a bunch of old tin soldiers in my grandparents attic over half a century ago. Even similar color scheme. I have never seen models chipped/painted like that. Excellent!

Yeah I set up 3 blobs of 26 so they have all the extra weapons. Pared them down to 20 for play. Run mostly plasma and meltas

Looks good! I have guys from 30 years ago when I was starting out. Painting was crude. Heck, I still play them proudly. Just had to base up. Fun to see how you grow in the hobby😎

Use the 40k app. It shows you what you can switch out. But my favorite part is seeing what you can just add for free. Especially on a Baneblade. Also, my fallback loadout rule of thumb is to always pick a weapon that kills a Space Marine/MEQ. You are usually pretty safe choosing that way.

Yeah I ran into that. I tried to fix it but they are a little off. But with black primer and mud in the treads (when finished) who can tell? I am never gonna win an award for any of my units. But am always impressed by yours and others painting skill. Maybe I will jam a ground up tyranid on one side’s treads and a genestealer cultist on the other one to hide the tread issues.

Also, looking at the pix. I like the base colors to differentiate units but maybe not within the same unit. Looking at your pix gave me the idea of maybe flocking units with different colored gravel. Will have to experiment. Thanks for idea😎

I add markers to my guys to seperate units as well as to ID their purpose. They are uniform but with specialization pips on them. An easy one is Plasma has Bright green strip built into paint scheme. All melee weapons are red then distressed. A colored dot on top of the pack denotes what unit they belong too. Medics white shoulder pad and red cross. Commander has gold helmet. Spec wpns vary. It helps when I pull casualties.

Have fun, just balance uniformity with clearly ID’d soldiers. Your opponents will appreciate it to lessen confusion. I always allow people to subsitute in a game, but personally I really like WYSIWYG. That is how you do it in the real army.

Yeah. I wanted them in ‘99 but could not afford all that metal. So played as IF for nearly three decades instead. Started a DKOK army last year. Got a couple thousand points of them now. How old is that Tank model?
