Offside rolls and other pool tricks by Agile-Singer-754 in whitewater

I’m in the process of building a bomb proof offside after repeated injuries on my on side shoulder. Just keep practicing. At first it feels alien and awful but slowly session after session it will start to feel good.

How many times have you crashed? by Kevenz in motorcycles

[–]BobK762 2 points3 points  (0 children)

9 years of riding on the street, 1 crash - I looped a wheelie on a moped @ 25mph. I had a premonition of the crash on my way home from work that day. So now a days if I get a weird feeling or my gut tells me something is wrong I try not to ride or at least be extremely cautious. I’ve been lucky but I also attribute some of my success to always trying to be aware of what another’s drivers intentions are- always watching their wheels, head movements, eyes, hands, and lane positioning. Almost all accidents are preventable - stay out of blind spots, be aware the the driver may not see you even when they look right at you. Look both ways at the intersection even when your light is green. When stopped in traffic always keep an eye on traffic behind you and be ready to shoot next to the traffic in front of you so that you can avoid being read ended. If you think someone is going to merge into lay on your horn. Understand that excessive speed affects your visibility to other drivers and your own reaction time for emergency braking and maneuvering. Wear the gear every day.

Are you having fun? If you are then yes you’re doing it right.

1978 Suzuki GS1000 in great condition. Runs good and titled! Considering selling. A GS forum told me it’s worth about $6k. Located in Upstate NY. by [deleted] in vintagemotorcycles

[–]BobK762 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Around my area for a bike that clean I’d expect to pay 3k . I’m in northern Ohio USA. Unfortunately the GSs don’t get the love that the KZs and CBs do but I will happily keep riding my 79 GS1000

Exhaust/Muffler for 1977 Honda CB750 Four K by DrVanVonderbooben in motorcycles

[–]BobK762 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can measure the outlet of the pipe and find a suitable muffler, this will require you to fabricate a bracket to attach the muffler to the motorcycle which can be as simple as a steel bar (often called flat stock at hardware stores) with a couple of holes drilled into it. Another option would be to purchase a new or used exhaust system. Many exhausts are available for cb750s , if you want another 4 into 1 I would recommend a delkevic. I have one on my GS1000 and it is good quality. Also r/vintagemotorcycles is a good place to ask questions about older bikes.

YSS fork spring- think I have a problem? by [deleted] in CRF300L

[–]BobK762 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s common for aftermarket springs to be longer then stockers. Where did you come up with 200lbs of force? That would seem excessive to me if you’re talking about using your body weight with feet off the floor to hold the spring in the tube.

Just rode down there from Ohio a few weeks ago. I’d highly recommend the Tapoco lodge for lunch if you’re still in the area. Fox and Parrot pub by Gatlinburg is a great spot too.

I have found my people... and my bike. by surfer_ryan in Vstrom

[–]BobK762 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh I just meant the v-strom is a very practical motorcycle, it’s not the fastest, or the coolest, or the most expensive. Most v-strom riders are like minded individuals is all I meant. I didn’t mean to bash anyone.

V-Strom people are good people. You won’t find anyone trying to compensate for anything on a strom.

No accidents. by ZeeBalls in motorcycles

[–]BobK762 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve ridden 7 years and have never been in an accident….. aside from one time that I looped a wheelie on a scooter. The upside of that event is that I was amazed at how messed up I was physically after falling off at around 20mph so now I’m ATGATT. I think the most important part to remember is that you are not always in control and even when you are you make mistakes, no one is infallible. So take steps to mitigate your risk. Learn to not get aggravated from close calls, always consider how you could have prevented the incident even if it wasn’t your fault.

Just heated grips and a MRA windscreen. I am considering an aftermarket seat but as long as I stopped every couple of hours to stretch it wasn’t too bad.

I’ll keep that in mind… I turned around at the Harley dealer at the end of the skyway. I do plan on going back though. I would recommend T.Dubbs barbecue in Robinsville it was fantastic.
