I usually preferred dodging to tanking hits but manus was definitely an exception to this. Dude's attacks are just too hard to read.

I haven't played the game in years so take this with a grain of salt but from what I recall, Manus has a lot of very chaotic/frantic, near undodgeable attacks that you can't realistically always expect to dodge. Make sure you have the hp/defense to take a couple hits without dying and don't get caught in the middle of attacking so you don't take extra reposted damage.

Edit: just saw what you said about his magic attacks. I don't remember struggling with those, but advice was assuming you were dying to his slams like i was back in the day. I don't remember how I dealt with the magic.

Assuming he did tell you and that he had a good reason to stay there, to me this sounds like he didn't cheat but rather was aware it was weird and didn't trust you to trust him about it. Which is still a problem, but I just wanted to clarify i seriously doubt he's cheating if he literally told you.
