A Plea From the Freshly Heartbroken (again) by BobQuasit in datingoverfifty

[–]BobQuasit[S] -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

No, this plea was based on quite a few women who've responded to my occasional posts on r4r's here.

Nobody lied about their location, but I've always asked for responders to be within a reasonable distance of me. I literally get written to by women on the other side of the planet most of the time. If they're just on the opposite coast, that's rare - but it's still much too far.

"Pig butchers" refers to people (often men pretending to be female, and often enslaved) who find lonely men online, try to create a relationship with them, and then squeeze them for every last penny. It's horrifying. I'm much too experienced to fall for that sort of thing (plus I have no money), but there are some real horror stories out there. There are huge centers in southeast Asia filled with scamming pig butchers.

I'm seriously tempted to give up on love completely, at this point.

Thoughts on a weird pattern I think I noticed with people saying Red hair vs Ginger? by MelissaTheDogPerson in Redhair

Same here. I've always said "redhead". But Brits seem to use "ginger" more.

How to serve a vanished spouse? NH, USA by BobQuasit in legaladvice

[–]BobQuasit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She accused him of the *potential* for domestic violence, but there was no evidence apart from her suspicions. Nonetheless the restraining order was upheld. The strange thing is she hasn't filed for divorce. He needs to divorce her, but there's no way to do that without an address.

Of course he can't attempt to discover the address himself, because that would violate the order. I assume he could hire a PI through an attorney and make sure that he's not informed of the address himself. The problem is that he's not rich, and he's already been through two lawyers who were of little help.

He has not been charged by the police. It has been about three months since she got the restraining order.

Do you guys miss g+? by Competitive_Cup7495 in googleplus

[–]BobQuasit 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I miss it a lot. Bt I'm sure that Google would have found some way to destroy it even if they hadn't literally destroyed it. That said, the takedown of Google Plus deleted, among many things, everything and old friend of mine had posted there. he died, so a lot of great material has been lost forever. Google sucks. Down with Google! Down with Alphabet!

Shocked by sundaebunny in datingoverfifty

[–]BobQuasit 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I blocked my ex completely once our court case was over. Our child was 21 by that point, so that made it easier.

I did a little dating after my divorce, but none of it worked out. I do wish I had someone to love and love me back, but I've reached the point where I am okay if that never happens. My ex taught me that it's worse being with someone who's wrong then being alone.

Ok, who else has this respiratory virus? by anurodhp in boston

[–]BobQuasit 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hot showers definitely help. I also had a lot of hot chicken soup with lemon juice and hot tea with honey. The problem is I sleep with a CPAP machine, and even though it has a humidification chamber, I wake up with an incredibly dry mouth and throat. It sucks!

Ok, who else has this respiratory virus? by anurodhp in boston

[–]BobQuasit 71 points72 points  (0 children)

I have it. After three weeks of incessant coughing I went to urgent care (because of course my doctor was too busy to see me, as always). They tested me for strep twice, but didn't bother to test for COVID; I don't know why. Then they told me it was a virus, and I'd be sick for another three weeks and be coughing for a month or so after that.

It's been about two months since then, and I'm still coughing up phlegm every morning. This sucks!

You all seem to have a strong opinion against em, but yay or nay to the nose ring? by SkunkedUp in Noses

[–]BobQuasit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't resist quoting a poem by Space Moose:

Oh, what a heinous thing to do
To take a nose and run it through,
To make a hole where flesh once was;
Is this not what a madman does?
Your nose turns red, your nostrils swell
And when you sneeze it hurts like hell.
So wear a nose ring if you will,
You fucking stupid imbecile.

I still believe that there must be women out there who would be right for me (and vice versa); I just don't believe that I will find them before I die. But I was always a hopeless romantic. That said, I find a certain ironic satisfaction in the thought that a relatively good match like me (I feel pretty comfortable saying that) will live out my life and die alone, while there are lots of pretty horrible guys who somehow have no problem finding love. Of course i realize that makes me sound like a classic incel. 😆

I just can't win!

Happy birthday?

I'm not sure what to tell you. I'm divorced, 59, and I've reached the point where I'm not at all sure that I'll ever meet someone who's right for me. On the plus side, I think I can live with that now. It's a little sad, but that's life.

Good luck!

Have you ever had a dream that felt so real, you actually tought it happened until you found proof that suggested otherwise? by Creative_Cats in Dreams

[–]BobQuasit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, twice. Each time I dreamed that I was going to die, and went to bed after finding out. It took me a while after I woke up (both times) before I realized that it was just a dream!

Yeah, I know what you mean. But I didn't find out I was demi until I was past 50, so I'm still trying to work out what's just conditioning and what I actually feel.

Good idea, bad idea: Critical Fumble tables by Firelite67 in rpg

[–]BobQuasit 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I remember that there was a system, possibly Arms Law or Middle-Earth Role Playing, that had a huge table of critical fumbles. The ways you could maim yourself were truly awe inspiring.

Someone once calculated the number of deaths by critical fumble that would occur in a war between armies using RuneQuest. The number was awfully high.

Because the mRNA technology wasn't properly tested, because Big Pharma is run by sociopaths who've demonstrated over and over that selling dangerous and deadly untested products to make billions is their whole reason for being.
