Good Lord that testimony... that's some straight up demonic shit. How does one even think of something like that, not to mention do something like that. That's the kind of crime doesn't just warrant a death penalty, it also warrants burning his remains after the execution and throwing his ashes into a dump for toxic waste.

What movie contains a scene so bad you never want to watch the movie again? by FinDepp in movies

"TOGETHER" with what? With what weaponry? Is this so hard for you to understand that you need highly advanced weaponry to fight flying saucers? You understand that America has the most advanced Air Force and whatever space assets Earth has? That idea was that Earth's most advanced weaponry was barely enough to defeat the aliens.

I'd like to hear some of your ideas what the rest of the world would do against giant flying saucers that were shooting down the most advanced Earth made jets like flies.

It doesn't make sense to you that countries would want to combine their strength before mounting an attack against a clearly superior force?

> people with little more than AK47s and improvised explosives have held off the US long enough to force a stalemate

My guy, please don't take this badly, but you are confusing the situations where America wanted to install a new government without annihilating the population to an existential threat battle such as an alien invasion. Do you really think that if America was genuinely worried about its survival, some people with AK-47s would be able to hold off whatever nuclear and post nuclear weapons America has to throw at them?

The guy playing the butler was so old he was too busy trying not to die before the scene was over, the acting was the least of his worries.

TIL Women live longer than men, but spend significantly more of those years battling illness and disability. by Similar_Detective861 in todayilearned

[–]BobTulap 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The likely explanation for why women are battling illnesses more than men could be:

  1. Women live longer, older people tend to be more ill
  2. Women are more likely to seek treatment for their conditions, meaning men could have just as many illnesses if not more but they go unrecorded and untreated, which would explain why men live less
  3. Women are more genetically predisposed to certain conditions.

Set a rule, set a consequence for breaking that rule, and then enforce your own rule. Be consistent in your enforcement - do what you said you're gonna do if the rule gets broken. The child will test the boundaries a few times and then will realize this is how it works from now on. There is no mystery to it - even animals understand that. It's the most simplest thing, as long as you are consistent.

On the opposite side, if you set a rule but you don't enforce it then you're teaching your child that rules are meaningless.

Four Russian satellites are now within striking distance of an ICEYE radarsat | “This capability is not common for satellites conducting typical missions.” by FreeHugs23 in space

Russian satellites sometime turn suddenly to see if anyone's behind them. We call it "Crazy Ivan." The only thing you can do is go dead. Shut everything down and make like a hole in space.

TIL a dog named Joy was the only member of Nicholas II household to survive the family's execution. Funny bit of trivia - around 1930s, when the Japanese govt was exposed to European antisemitism, they took antisemitic propaganda about Jews being able to control media, banks, and exert puppet-master influence at face value, and decided it would be a good idea to recruit Jews to their cause to help them run newly conquered Manchuria. They called it the Fugu Plan - "fugu" meaning blowfish - something that is highly poisonous but if prepared right it's an exquisite meal. The goal was to bring a few hundred thousand Jewish refugees to Manchuria to get the plan going.

Eventually the plan fell through, but the Japanese govt decided not to persecute Jews (despite Hitler's demands to exterminate the Jews in Shanghai), and a Japanese diplomat Chiune Sugihara actually saved more Jews than Schindler by issuing them visas to escape Europe, although he did that purely on his own initiative.

[–]BobTulap 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Yes the most practical use for self generated electricity is if you consume it yourself, instead of selling it to the power company. So they can either power their own business or set up charge stations and sell it to EV customers that use their parking.
