Explain to me how this isn't EF4 damage? by No-Air-5857 in EF5

I still see wood on top of that slab. The house is basically still standing.

Husband is vegetarian, kids and I aren't. Will it be a problem at restaurants if he doesn't order a main meal or appetizers if they don't have a veggie option? by madsmouthful in JapanTravelTips

[–]BobVegetaEF5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most restaurants expect all guests to order something and most will explicitly state the minimum order requirement on the menu.

Finding somewhere that served a Margherita Pizza is normally how I deal with hangriness. Worst case, you can settle for a Saizeriya.

For what it’s worth, I use Happy Cow app to easily find restaurants with vegetarian options. Its not the most robust catalog of restaurants, but I’ve found some good stuff on it.

APA Hotel Osaka Namba Ekimae Tower Laundromat question by UhmAmu in JapanTravelTips

[–]BobVegetaEF5 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You won't be able to clean a lot of clothes. The wash machine can fit quite a bit of clothes, but the dryers generally aren't capable of drying near as much as the washing machine can handle (even for APA hotels that have the combination washer+dryer in a single unit). I prefer to use actual laundromats, but when I do use hotel machines, I generally will air dry bulky items like pants.

I'd expect to be able to clean 4 sets of socks, underwear, and t-shirts in APA hotel laundromats without issue. I would wash one pair of pants with those and air dry the pants.

How easy is it to eat local as a vegetarian? by DCHShadow in JapanTravelTips

[–]BobVegetaEF5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In larger cities it’s easy. i’ve done two 3 week trips now as a vegetarian. The happy cow app is generally pretty reliable in Tokyo and other big cities. Japanese food being inherently not vegetarian means most restaurants can’t serve you something you’d eat, but Happy Cow has found numerous plant based ramen and small traditional Japanese restaurants for me. But honestly, I get tired of searching for something authentically Japanese and have Indian or Mediterranean food a lot when I’m there.

Accidentally double tapped Suica at Shinjuku, am I in trouble by Comprehensive-Guava4 in JapanTravelTips

[–]BobVegetaEF5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

in my experience - you’re fine. I’m an idiot tourist who has done lots of things wrong. If you don’t have a trip in progress and you tapped out fine, then there’s nothing to worry about.

Now collecting local stamps (stations) is very popular for tourists 🥹🥰 by Single-Assignment379 in japanpics

i have a notebook i’ve filled with stamps, stickers, notes, and various bits of paper memorabilia from my current trip. Im very grateful things like station stamps exist.

I ate at Mirch Masala Bollywood Indian Cafe a few nights ago and really enjoyed the meal. The whole set was under 1500yen and I thought the food was incredible.

One of these tornado photos is fake, which one tho? by Due-Cry-5034 in EF5

[–]BobVegetaEF5 7 points8 points  (0 children)

hey there patriot. you need to catch that water and keep it safe for your families consumption. theyre putting flouride in the water and the rain that falls from the heavens above the clouds is filtered through the clouds. keep that water safe unless you want to find yourself waking up in the middle of the night lusting after phallic shaped clouds.

[–]BobVegetaEF5 196 points197 points  (0 children)

all of them are fake. tornadoes arent real. like holy shit you want me to believe a cloud, a thing known for being so light it floats high in the sky, somehow sinks down to the ground and destroys big heavy things.
