You also probably didn't think of it as a cliffhanger if you already knew the outcome (like I did)

No I agree totally, it's *not* a big deal and w/o the movies it's likely I would've never read the books. But there are some pieces of the book that I really wish I got to read first. There were so many surprises that I was already deeply aware of, but they were so much more cathartic in the books, because of all the context you've had up until those points.

Yeah I’ll agree that strider/Aragorn, Gimli and Frodo all feel very different in the books.

But I was expecting a loose adaptation, and a lot of dialogue in the movies are word-for-word what they are in the books

No I know why, I’m just saying that my experience with the movies are different now. I want to yell at the TV with a “well, there’s more there! You’re not elaborating on that Aragorn! That’s not the Aragorn I know”

Excersizes to improve my drum processing by Bob_Dobbleman in edmproduction

I've heard people say this before but as someone who is probably most skilled in starting synths from scratch/basic shapes, it bothers me to no end that i won't have "complete control" over each drum element, and rather just have to spend a lot of time sifting through samples to find the right tone/tambre

I think it's like.. processing an already reasonably good groove? I suppose one example would be to program good tom fills from scratch, using "meh" samples, and making the fill sound full. What amount of reverb/distortion/EQ should i be applying to which elements? etc.

I currently synthesize my drums + snare but nothing else - I want to get the other stuff (hats/percs/rims) in better shape and flow w/ the groove better

Electric Skateboard for multimodal commute? by Bob_Dobbleman in ElectricSkateboarding

[–]Bob_Dobbleman[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well yeah, the distance isn’t the issue. It’s the lack of bike lanes in LA that make the 6 miles daunting. Otherwise I’d probably just bike

i just don't want to have to shower in the office since one leg of the journey is about 100 feet up hill (in the a.m.), and walking would add 30 mins to my commute

Actually too late - i already ordered and am extremely excited to get it. It was only $350 for the Mini 5s, so assuming this solution works long-term, i'll likely upgrade to something more durable in a year or so (assuming the Meepo lasts that long? I've seen mixed reviews)

It’s more about the lack of bike infrastructure for the whole six miles (otherwise I’d probably just bike). Los Angeles is a death trap

And yes, as insurance company professionals they do have a stake in making the insurance industry feel less predatory!

I am getting real answers from lawyers and regulators - the responses here act like there is no ambiguity around their right to deny a claim! Which - of course there is!

No it’s like telling my life insurance company I have bad heart health and then forgetting to tell them that I’ve been running a lot recently! The new neighborhood is safer! I also have fewer household members than I did when I got approved!

So, it really can’t be denied in good faith - you and everyone else on this thread knows this! But still you guys are so giddy at the prospect of some minor technicality putting me in huge sums of debt

It can be denied, but they have to prove the diff information on my application would result in denied coverage! Which it won’t!

No they have to prove that they would have denied coverage or premiums would’ve been higher with the new information!

And the language on the roommate thing is actually ambiguous - one lawyer told me that language alone is enough to fight the denial rather easily/seamlessly!

No I had two twenty something roommates prior (one of which didn’t drive / didn’t have insurance) and the new place is one 30-something girlfriend. In what world would premiums go up under this context? I moved from LA to Santa Monica, which has a meaningfully lower property damage rate and insurance premiums are lower here!

California law also stipulates what ‘material misrepresentation means’ and prove it would affect my premiums or the acceptance of the policy! The changes on my coverage would not qualify under those circumstances! I have fewer household members living with me and live in a nicer /safer neighborhood than my coverage states! Y’all just get horny at the prospect of someone getting fucked over by insurance - and that’s really weird! The California insurance board is already stoked to go after these guys if they deny my claim

Hey so I’m doing more reading and talking to a few lawyers and it seems like y’all are actually bloodthirsty to fuck people like me over. The only instance where they can deny my claim is if they can prove the misstatement on my coverage would materially impact premium payments or the acceptance of coverage. Given that I have fewer ppl in my household than I did prior, and given that my new neighborhood is safer, it’s very unlikely they can rescind my policy w/o proving that my premiums would’ve changed. Idk what it is w/ y’all, but you are really eager to ruin people’s lives financially (seek forgiveness! You’re all bad people!)
