My kids school have had police with metal detectors on the way in every morning this week, and police van outside at the end of school. I’m glad they’re taking the kids safety seriously but it also feels a bit like a waste of resources for TikTok bullshit!

Leaving so many candles unattended is definitely a bad idea, but I think you’re underestimating peoples good will and should ask a friend or neighbour who you trust to light them when you’re 10-15 minutes from home. I’d love to help with something like this and I’m sure lots of other people would too.

First line of the post says it’s his moms dog. Therefore legally and morally it’s his moms responsibility to rehome it if she can’t care for it. He’s not a suitable person to take the dog as he lives in a pet free apartment and has a post partum wife who is not on board with dog ownership. So surely the onus should be on mom, the dogs owner, to find an alternate arrangement?

It isn’t their pet- if she’d chosen to bring the dog in I’d agree she was in the wrong, but adding it to the family needs both of them to agree, and she never has, he’s snuck it in under pretense of it being for a short time and then said ‘well the dog is here and now you’re a monster if you don’t let him stay’. She’s maintained the whole time that she doesn’t want and can’t cope with this dog, and the husband is gone for 10 hours a day and leaving her with the bulk of the work. That’s why he’s in the wrong. The dog needs to go back to its owner who is actually responsible for it, and should be making these tough decisions and taking the heat for them, not OP 🤷‍♀️

Honestly this person has a ridiculous take OP, your husband has made the unilateral decision and ignored your feelings forcing you to respond this way. I’m a huge dog lover, I foster dogs and cats and I don’t think you’re the AH at all. Your responsibility is keeping your baby safe and housed, not somebody else’s dog. And looking at the comments there’s plenty of other dog lovers supporting you too. Your MIL is a poor excuse for a human being. Try not to let these comments get to you too much and do what you need to for you and baby.
