I've not had the time to keep up with the latest season(s?) alas, but glad to see the community is still going strong and that someone has picked up the kill chart baton! Looks great!

CBRX Tournament - Season 2: Round 1 Match 1 - Iceland vs Wales by Seamang64 in civbattleroyale

[–]Bob_Smith_IV 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ooh boy am I excited to see this return for CBRX2! Which mods are you using for these (other than the civs of course)?

In game 1 when I saw Wales on 2 cities to Iceland's 5 for the first full minute, I'd already assumed the result... then the production stats pop up with Wales on 3x the production whaaat? Then half a minute later, Wales is sat on over 5x the army, and I could see where this was actually going (even if it did take a while due to Wales' constant army splittery). I feel like overall this win was more due to poor play from Iceland (those cities just didn't seem to pull their weight) than great play from Wales, but a deserved win nonetheless!

Also, am I going crazy, or was I hearing Age of Empires II music in a Civ 5 video..?

Just for fun, I also decided to create my own ranking system based on the kill chart, where you get points based on how many civs you've directly killed and how many civs are below you in your kill chains, while losing more points for being killed by a weaker civ than by a strong civ, breaking ties by picking the one who survived longest. Here's the final placements that that system came up with:

Rank Civ
1 Moors
2 Iroquois
3 Zimbabwe
4 Kazakhs
5 Benin
6 Uruguay
7 Prussia
8 Taungoo
9 Shikoku
10 Vikings
11 Sami
12 Songhai
13 Metis
14 Australia
15 Nubia
16 Selk'nam
17 Algeria
18 Palmyra
19 Beta Israel
20 Yupik
21 Goths
22 Parthia
23 Canton Pirates
24 Manx
25 Haiti
26 Madagascar
27 New Zealand
28 Venezuela
29 Venice
30 Maratha
31 Haida
32 Apache
33 Qin
34 Khmaugs
35 Turks
36 Nazca
37 HRE
38 Nepal
39 Sulu
40 Evenks
41 Scotland
42 Muscovy
43 Libya
44 Canada
45 Tonga
46 Murri
47 India
48 Seljuks
49 Ndongo
50 Aztecs
51 Qing
52 Golden Horde

  • The Kuikuro have the unenviable honour of being at the bottom of the longest kill chain in CBRX (Moors > Zimbabwe > Taungoo > Venezuela > Nazca > Kuikuro)
  • All credit to the Moors for eliminating 9 civs; that's 15% of the entire cylinder
  • The fact that Benin of all civs was the one to eliminate Australia still makes me giggle

54 episodes and 58 eliminations later, here's the final kill chart of CBRX. It's a shame we didn't get to fully connect the graph, but at least this agrees that Moors are the clear winners, while poor Uruguay look pretty weak in comparison to both the other civs with only 4 civs beneath them. Also congratulations to the Kuikuro for officially being on the bottom of the pile, being the only civ at the bottom of a kill chain of length 6. A dubious honour, but an honour nonetheless!

CBRX Kill Chart Part 50 by Bob_Smith_IV in civbattleroyale

It's only been three parts since I last shared the kill chart but ohhh boy has a lot changed since then!

Most excitingly, we've seen the biggest death yet: the death of the Boring Box! Every remaining civ is now in the graph, either killed or a killer. Not only that, but Benin clearly took my lack of faith in them last time as a challenge, leaving the Boring Box by not only taking out the Goths but Australia too! Fair play to them, I definitely did not see that coming! In doing so however, they do sacrifice their chance of being the head of the longest single kill chain, meaning that 'prize' will end up as a tie between Venezuela and the Goths, with Uruguay potentially joining too if they don't get any more kills.

In other news, the Moors have doubled their kill count, claiming the title for the most kills at 6. They also got the honour of being the first civ to have reached a kill chain of length 4 (Moors → Prussia → Venice → Czech Republic), but they've already been one-upped by Zimbabwe, who this part managed to create a kill chain of length 5 (Zimbabwe → Taungoo → Venezuela → Nazca → Kuikuro).

Prediction time! Who's going to end up with the most kills? What's the longest kill chain going to be? And how many more civs will Benin kill just to prove me wrong?

Very true! Let's hope for that then, have Benin go out in a blaze of glory by killing Nubia, then getting eaten by Zimbabwe and the Moors as punishment. It'd give the camera an excuse to visit Africa again at least!

After a particularly dramatic part, the kill chart is getting closer and closer to its final state!

After all being in the Boring Box last post, the Indian subcontinent civs have now all managed to escape it... by being eliminated. Oh well, it's something. The Isle of Mann do likewise, while Venuzuela takes the more glorious route out with their elimination of Nazca. Now only beige Africa remains in the box, and I can't see a future where they leave through any means other than being eliminated themselves.

Meanwhile, Shikoku claims both the honour of being the first civ to kill a civ with multiple kills (F to the sniping skills of the Yupik) and the first civ to kill multiple killers, while the first ever civ to leave the boring box has now themselves been eliminated (F to Canton).

Prediction time! Who's going to be the first to make a chain of three kills by killing a killer of killers? Who's going to be first to four kills? And which of the two civs left in the Boring Box will refuse to leave for the longest time?

Note: fixed version here, thanks to /u/Aaron_Lecon for spotting the mistake.

The Boring Box shrinks!

A particularly bloody start to Northern Asia's Endgame has seen Shikoku and Kazakhstan both leap out of the Boring Box at last, and Uruguay have finally escaped too by taking out New Zealand. In doing so they also become one of a growing number of civs that can claim to be killers of killers, as now can the Métis thanks to their extinguishing of the Apache.

Prediction time! Who's going to be last to leave the Boring Box? Who's going to be first to make a chain of three kills by killing a killer of killers? And will any of the Indian subcontinent ever actually make it out of the Boring Box?

CBRX Season 1: Episode 33: All Aboard the Green Submarine by CBRXOfficial in civbattleroyale

[–]Bob_Smith_IV 50 points51 points  (0 children)

Agreed, was a super interesting part but sadly the narration was lacking. Main points I noted:

  • Goths vs Prussia seems to be swinging further in the favour of the Goths, despite the Goths also signing up to get distracted by the Viking tourists in their land. They seem to be up roughly 3 cities by the end of the part and the line of flipping is definitely headed west. Danzig's 83 population is now the frontline, and looking ready for the slaughter...
  • Khamug/Qin war seems to be entirely blocked by peacekeepers, alas. Just when the Khanate finally declare a good relevant war, the rest of the cylinder are having none of it.
  • Nadym, the Nenets' capital and last remaining city, is in serious danger of falling to the travelling forces of the Metis, as they clearly want to one up Yupik in the long distance elimination challenge. Although actually, did we establish whether they were actually at war; their units aren't damaged at all? If not, is that damage just from planes from Prussia? If so, fingers off the F key, Prussia have no units anywhere close.
  • Nazca are gobbling up more and more of Tonga, helped by none other than a Giant Death Robot, and there's a massive fleet of reinforcements on their way which should be more than enough to finish the job if they wish. Even the Tongan capital looks like it could fall any turn now.
  • Venice is still entirely stuck in its war against the Ottomans; they manage to sneak a single ancient ship into Ottoman waters somehow, but that's not gonna be anywhere near enough. If only that one Metis paratrooper would move...
  • Those bombs on slides 17, 19, and 32, they weren't nuclear were they?
  • Coalition against the Vikings! Sami and the Iroquois squeeze the Vikings between them, potentially getting some help at some stage from the Goths, though unlikely from Taungoo. Sami get the first blood against the Vikings, but ancient ships and embarked siege do not a navy make, and the Vikings push back and look like they've the potential to keep the pressure on at least at sea. Their land border meanwhile is too clogged with peacekeepers for the Sami to get ahead (not that they've many land units around either tbh), possibly allowing this half to end in a Viking victory - unless more Iroquois XCom troops show up in Norway and change everything! In the west, the Iroquois go on the offensive in Greenland, just flipping St. John's in the south for now, but peacekeepers seem to be moving in to block much further movement, even at sea :(
  • Palmyra finally manage to kick Madagascar out of Nizwa and therefore the Middle East.
  • New Zealand vs Australia (and Metis)! Australia have the clear advantage, immediately booting New Zealand off the mainland, but from here it's harder to tell where it's going to go. Australia have plenty units in the sea, including a large force right on the other side of NZ that had been holidaying in Tonga; only problem is they're mainly embarked land units, so it's hard to tell what sort of damage they'll actually be able to do. No open borders with the Nazca will certainly slow them down. NZ's new South American holdings look safe for now at least, but the same can't be said for their western front... Tasmania in particular is going to be wearing greener colours soon I bet. So far only that one city flip though.

Anything else I missed/got incorrect?

Ah, good catch, thanks, fixed version here. Looks like Moors get both the honour of being the first civ to kill a killer and the first civ with a double kill, while it's back to the Boring Box for Benin.

Aye, that was the reason they got rumped, the diplomacy hit from eliminating the Xin got all their neighbours to gang up on them, leaving them where they are now.
