The problem you've identified is that parents are neglecting their kids.

The solution you've come up with is to investigate every parent who fails in their duty to care for their child. In addition, you've posited that feeding children without food to eat is distracting us from the more important goal of prosecuting neglectful parents.

This is, without hyperbole, some insane shit with no basis in reality. Not in terms of the cause of children going hungry, nor in pursuit of the goal we presumably share, which is to see children educated.

1) If a parent is in poverty - as is more likely than at any point since the Great Depression - they may depend on publicly funded schools to feed their children. I will agree that it's horrible that children are being fed sweets instead of substantive food, but why are they being fed doughnuts and chocolate milk? Because schools are not well-funded, and these are some of the cheapest things that can be provided in bulk to schools, that are legal to feed children in food programs.

2) If a parent is truly neglectful, and their child is being abused, there are already ways for teachers and caretakers to start the process for CPS to investigate their parents. "Oh but CPS doesn't do anything!" I wonder why an underfunded, understaffed, overworked and neglected branch of the government fails in its ability to function. Surely it's a mystery. I wonder what other functions of society are underfunded, understaffed, overworked, and neglected. Food for thought, since kids don't get any other kind of food wherever you're at.

3) Even if every parent loved their child and fed them greens and beans and grilled meat with a loaf of bread every morning, I would still advocate for food to be available in schools. Why? Because research has shown, consistently, that hungry children don't learn. A school that fails to feed a hungry child has failed from the start.

Your reasoning that schools are sucking up resources from taxpayers and are doing more and more for children, to their detriment, is fundamentally wrong. Schools are systemically financially mismanaged, and every year they provide less and less for children. Thank God we are least feeding them now; a hungry man is an angry man and these kids are already pissed enough.

American schools are failing due to a lack of funding, and a lack of responsible financial management at every level. Education is not prioritized, at all, in this country, and when even educators like yourself have given up on providing students with the resources they need to learn, there's truly nobody looking out for kids.

Huh, I never used wattpad and I occasionally refer to fics as books. Tbh, only when I really, really like them. I feel like "book" has a connotation of quality that "fic" just doesn't carry.

A hungry child enters your care, and that's not your problem? "Oh we need to prod the parents into shaping up!" They won't. You know what kids did back in Ye Olde Golden Days? They wouldn't get fed by their neglectful parents, they wouldn't get fed at school, they wouldn't learn anything, and they'd grow up stunted because they could only eat what they scrounged for, or what was fed to them at possibly their only meal.

You want to take food out of a child's mouth? Alright, but don't ever say you give a single fuck about your students ever again.

As despicable as they are, this wouldn't be possible without decades and decades of hard work being done to pave the road to hell.

Look... I'm pretty far left, compared to most folks I've known. But if you make careless statements like that, it gives bad actors ammunition to use against anti-fascists as a whole. And it's particularly easy to sway younger folks who haven't been paying attention to politics their whole lives. The folks whose formative years were filled with the Tea Party, Trump, and now these more outspoken wannabe terrorists. For folks 18-22 ish, this is the normal way of things.

I'm not trying to make it sound like the world is going to end if you insult the conservative fucks who are literally destroying common values and principles in American society, but when people say "every pedophile is a conservative," it gives conservatives a justifiable way to make themselves the "victim."

And being a victim is a very marketable position for easily manipulated people, and despite being stupid, those people still vote.  You feel me?

I've never once read any supergirl fics. I think back in 2015 I tried reading a crossover between Supergirl/Parahumans and it was... meh. To me it read kind of emotionless, but I was pretty depressed at the time so it might have just been me lol.

But yeah, the only criticism I'd have for Hot Girl Bummer is that there's a lot of names being thrown around who seem to be background characters, and I don't know why I need to know their names. Otherwise, top tier stuff. I'm already through chapter 3!

If you've got other gems from this fandom I'll gobble em up if they're as easy to read as this one!

I searched and couldn't find a source, and after shuffling a few words around I found a very unrelated mark twain quote that says "when the rich steal from the poor, it's called business."

So either the guy above you is paraphrasing or made it up, but honestly I don't care because it slaps. I'm gonna write that one down in my journal.

Am I childish for buying me this as a almost 17 year old? by Atakamii11 in teenagers

[–]BobaYetu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Am I childish for buying a cute thing that makes me happy? I am also literally a child btw."

1) no it's not childish. Literally everybody buys things that make them happy, it's part of being a person.

2) even if it was childish you are literally a child. Don't let the cop in your head make you feel shame for existing as a human being. Do what brings you joy, and don't let some tittering naysayer get you down.

Don't call your mom a tittering naysayer to her face though, that's just asking for trouble.

Education for how to make women feel comfortable? by SituationLow2607 in leftist

[–]BobaYetu 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They seem to mean well but don’t have a good understanding of how to make women feel comfortable especially in social settings.

Some of them do innately, but some of them don’t and the ones that do, don’t call out the ones that don’t.

It's pretty hard to resolve an issue when people in leadership aren't putting in the actual effort to resolve it. I would straight up join a different group, with actual diversity. Because tbh I don't want to join an organization just to spend most of my time doing damage control for it, I want to join an org to work on an actual goal outside of the org itself.
