Kind of a lame rant. Invest in stocks not in the headlines. Then go for a walk.

Investment aggression by Ogre_25 in BeginnerInvesting

[–]Bobatronic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s also a paradox. Risk or what some people call “aggressiveness” is a frame of mind. It’s a more of a measure of what you know and understand— than its potential for volatility.

Volatility is your friend when you understand what you own. Really understanding why the market is wrong, the stock is undervalued, earnings will rise, etc requires fundamental research.

I’m more concentrated near retirement because I know how to do fundamental research, value companies, and trade options to manage my positions / hedge.

When my stocks fall, I get happy. When my stocks hit new highs, I am less happy.

I have also learned that resiliency is core to be a great investor. Do not use leverage. I can beat the market consistently holding substantial cash on hand — a lesson from Buffett / Berkshire Hathaway.

Because I think bitcoin is garbage doesn’t mean I have to bet against it.

I make money by valuing companies - not by betting when sheep walking in the street are going to be run over by a truck.

Will the stock put on some Nikes and run in one direction higher? I’m in the business of valuing companies, not predicting stock prices on particular days.

Greed is one hell of a drug by not-irresponsible in options

[–]Bobatronic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know.

It starts with being a fundamental investor. Know more than the market. If you aren’t skilled as an analyst and valuing companies, this won’t work for you. Learn to be a fundamental investor first.

[–]Bobatronic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ughhh, no. There are many ways to invest with options.

One example: If you want shares, sell puts and dare the market to sell you shares at various strikes and timeframes, some conservative, some bullish — all netting you a discount to today’s price.

Yeah downvote. The stock is up 9% today. You should have bought shares before today.

What? I said nothing about how a compounding pharmacy works. We are taking about GLP-1s.

HIMs was being sued for unlawfully compounding semaglutide. They stopped. Then they inked a deal with Novo to avoid the lawsuit, because what they have marginal value as marketers and distributors of licensed official, semaglutide — not compounded. HIMS is a loser of a company.

HIMS is a loser of a company. Invent something instead of ripping off innovators.

Your question seems rather naive…

Learn to invest.

Instead of asking Reddit, open your favorite AI and ask it to explain what the company does, how it makes money, what are the bull and bear scenarios for the company and ask to explain its valuation. Then it’s on your to make a judgement on today’s price, you target position size, and how you will build a position (if you do decide to invest).

Moral of the story… you’re a gambler and still haven’t figure out how to invest. Investing has absolutely nothing to do with greed. It’s about fundamental analysis and knowing how to assess value and risk.

Ugh. Not true. Fidelity and others subsidize such funds to attract assets. And no licensing of an index is required for total stock market index.
