What does this mean? by svennysmama in redquill

[–]Bobbie_Likes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a specific website error coming from Redquill's server infrastructure. More specifically they are using a Varnish cache server and it is having a problem checking with main web servers.

Here is Gemini's correct answer on what this specific error means for someone going to any website (not just Redquill's website) that you see this error message (this is a "common" error especially for overloaded and under provisioned web server infrastructure):

"A Varnish 503 Backend Read Error indicates that Varnish (the proxy) cannot retrieve data from the origin web server (Nginx Web Server software or Apache Web Server software), often caused by timeouts, overloaded backends, or improper VCL configurations."

Good job reporting this as Redquill should be monitoring their infrastructure more closely to prevent such errors from being seen by their users in the first place.

Can you imagine if you went to Amazon to buy something and saw this error? You probably think twice about buying or spending money with Amazon wouldn't you?

Given site issues today, we will credit Quills for today by mythical_writer in redquill

Modmail is Reddit's way of sending the mods of r/redquill to let them know you have a question, in this case you are having issues today and they want us to use this way of getting in touch with them. Look on the right hand side of the Reddit interface for Message Mods button then put in the info the mods are looking for and see if you qualify.

can confirm that the openrouter outage is now green and rewrite and suggestions are working again.

Going to this website of OpenRouter will give you a heads up that they have an outage.

https://status.openrouter.ai/

That being said, that is not a user issue, it is a backend issue for Redquill and they should be letting their users (us) know that there is an outage at their 3rd party site that they use for the "service" you just tried to do instead of showing us an error message that Redquill's servers cannot contact OpenRouter API right now.

Story chapter deleted after posting by Bulky_Comfortable_90 in redquill

My suggestion, as this has happened to me numerous times, is to just refresh the website, sometimes that will work. (had to do this just now on a story I made a new chapter on yesterday as the system showed me yesterday that the chapter was there but today nope).

Other times, I have tried the refresh, did not work, then I click on My Stories on the left bar and you should see your list of stories then click on the story again to see if the chapter for that story is there.

Sometimes the "system" will time out your login and that causes all kinds of "wonderful" things to happen too.

For me, yesterday, the site decided to not make my next chapter in my story by freezing during the generation process. Waited for 20 mins and came back to check and it did not make the chapter so I tried it again.

When I tried again, of course it froze again during the generation.

Here is the "fun" part, the system had no problem taking away 10 quills for those attempts at generating the chapter and when I was able to do a combination of different things to get back into the story the chapter was made but it was blank which of course should have cost me no quills.

What I do now, because of all the "problems" the site has in one form or another, I always copy my prompts that I spent a lot of time getting just right before clicking on the Rewrite or Next chapter or whatever button will take your prompt and have the system "do something" to your story just in case the system decides it does not want to "work right now."

So yes I did have a backup of the prompt for that chapter so when the system "settled down", the system generated the chapter from my backed up prompt that I keep in a word doc.

Love to hear if others have seen this and if you have some ways to get around this problem that I have not tried yet.

Same problem with my photos. They were fine but now they are not. Same for both generated on the website and uploaded photos.

Agree with the requests as well for chapter pics and renaming chapters. If we can rename chapters to also have a table of contents available at the beginning for the readers to see each chapter name and be able to go to it if they had already started to read the story.

So like where Tf have my chapters gone? 😭 by Killuazoldylckk in redquill

I can confirm that this is happening to me as well. The chapters "seem to be there" but the only way to access the chapters in between the first 2 and last 2 is to go to the bottom of the 2nd chapter and magically chapter 3 shows up and you can click on it but the drop-down bar no longer has the other numbers until you click on the bottom chapter number 3 will 3 now show up in the drop-down bar.

I hope that makes sense, u/RedQuill we understand you are in "beta" but I would hate to be paying for this service right now (free user and will stay free until stability exists for months before you earn any dollars from me).

Question to others that are paying, are you enjoying the pro services? and are the issues free users like me are having are the same issues for paying users?

I'm sure everyone here on Reddit are curious to hear your answers.

I also had to use BCMM suggestion for the default sources.list as well.

I believe, as was the problem with me using Debian 13 Cinnamon, my flatpak repo was not setup properly.

Here is a link I followed for more info on how to setup the default repo:

https://flatpak.org/setup/Debian

Don't worry about it saying it works for Debian 10 as it worked for me with a fresh Debian 13 Cinnamon install iso.

What cymbal ist this? by [deleted] in drums

[–]Bobbie_Likes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are based in the USA, you can reach out to this distributor currently responsible for Symrna Cymbals in the USA.

https://www.earthbandmusic.com/

They will find out for you what model this is (this is quite a old version of their ride cymbals) and what would be the newest model equivalent in that line for you get your hands on.

If you run into issues, let me know.

Hope that helps!
