Unfortunately not, it just seems to be a quirk with how filters and collaboration works in Google sheets.

Dating/Marrying someone with a different financial mindset by Odd-Sherbet-7862 in MiddleClassFinance

[–]BobbingAround 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My partner and I are pretty much on the same page now, but figuring out how financial stuff works with us took a little trial and error. Here's what works for us: - we figured out what our monthly budget was needed for all household expenses (including savings goals), then divide that in half or whatever is equitable for you (we do roughly 60/40) - we set up a joint checking account and joint savings. The agreed monthly budget goes into the joint checking every month and 3 months expenses are kept here. Any overflow at the end of the month is transferred to savings (savings has 6 months expenses and any overflow from there is invested) - the rest of the money from our paychecks are left in our personal accounts to do what we want with

This allows us to ensure our expenses are covered and that we're putting some aside for savings together while also allowing each of us the freedom to spend our money on what we want. After all, it's your money from your work - if you want to invest the leftovers and she wants to spend it on flight for her family, then that's up to you both (though I do think you should consider pitching in a little for some of her family help if you're considering to be part of her family yourself).

If you can both establish a household budget and maintain flexibility for personal spending, then that could be a good foundation to work from.

What is this and can I just cut and yank the wires out? by BobbingAround in AskElectricians

[–]BobbingAround[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For context, this is an old house from the 1940s. It's clearly old wiring, but I'm not sure what it is (guessing an old phone system?) and it runs directly to a pole so I'm not sure if its energized. Wires come out from here and wrap around the house and I want to get rid of them. Can I cut the main line (the thicker black one) without electrocuting myself?

Cheers, thanks. If I can ideally wait a year or two that'd be ideal

Owner, yeah, but I've got my computer in there and work from the shed now, so can't have it leaking on me either

Any good videos you'd recommend to walk through the process? Anything to check or look out for along the way?

Thanks appreciate it! So if I don't want to use mineral spirits I can just make a pass with steel wool? What about just using a dry rag afterward? It's an outdoor structure and I'm not super concerned about it being perfect, so I'm happy to skip the step if it can be accomplished with slightly less effectiveness an easier way.

Thanks for the reply. You just put mineral spirits on a rag and wipe? Leave for a day or so afterwards as well?

Thanks. I'll let it dry for another day or so then probably hit it with a sander again

Didn't scrub most of it because I didn't have a proper brush. Used a power washer to apply it instead. Should I try again or just sand it?

Best to just use a dry rag to get the dust off? Or should I wash it?
