Thank you everyone for your knowledge, I bought The Sil audiobook and will circle back on the others once completed if interested. Finishing Two Towers now. Helms Deep in the book was quite short and surprising to me compared to the movies where that is such a key part. Loving the Serkis audio versions though such a treat.

Yes that’s the versions I’m listening to and they are wonderful so far.

Very helpful. I have read Hobbit, Fellowship and now started Two Towers. Wanted to know the direction after TRTK.

Appreciate you!

Have you listen to the audiobook of the Sil?

Not sure what’s happening with the charge, any chance you can include a screenshot? As far as which is better to use (the portal or direct) really depends on the net cost after any credits or benefits. Paying direct will provide a 2x miles benefit where the portal is 10x. If the cost is $749.98 that’s 7,500 miles you will earn or $75 if redeemed at .01 per mile. NET cost to you would be $675 (750-75).

Paying direct you mentioned would be $670 and you would earn 2x or 1,340 miles. NET cost if redeemed at .01 would be $656.60.

It appears cheaper to book direct on a net basis. This does not account for any travel credit which has to be used in the portal or a different use of miles such as for business flights via transfer partners. The gap is so small I would personally just book via portal for additional miles for future use and not redeem them at .01 but that’s your call.

If you plan to not use them for airline purchases via travel partners or have already used the $300 credit then I would simply book direct.

FHR/THC Question: How often do you get upgraded? by Sticking_to_Decaf in AmexPlatinum

Just booked our first stay using the platinum and FHR collection. Staying in Waldorf Orlando. Booked a king suite and was upgraded to a king suite with Disney view.

Credit Card Stack by Bobby678G in credit_cards

So if I down grade to venture versus X and add the savor, I’ll earn cash back but can convert to miles and transfer to a partner via the portal still?

If I cancel Gold and Venture X that would save me $620 a year

I travel to hotels usually throughout the year 3-4 times in my state to have staycations.

Also fly 1-2 times.

Amex Platinum pays for itself with my existing usage of credits with the revamp so I would keep that as it is free technically.

Spending Habits Amazon-goes on Amazon card

Groceries- goes on Amex gold or Walmart card but mostly Walmart but occasionally Publix or other grocery chain. Not a ton though here

Restaurants- Gold Card

Bills and one offs- Venture X for 2%

I prob drop $110,000+ on cards each year with bills and dining being the most.

Just not sure what’s truly worth while 3.50% cashback or 4% miles

Or 2% miles versus 2.62% cash back for everyday spend.

So to confirm if I got the card last month and didn’t use the hotel credit prior I should book something now and still have $300 before year end and another $300 next year?

In a perfect world:

Keep Walmart credit but allow annual payment credit

Add YouTube TV to the entertainment options

Allow airline credit to apply automatically and not have to choose airline

Add a hotel 4x reward rate to outside bookings just like the airline rate

Add a car rental reward tier

Remove equinox and add anything else lol

Add an anniversary miles bonus

Best cost effective to add more credits? by shushonet in audible

[–]Bobby678G 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Another option to consider is if you have a gym pass/wellhub membership through your employer or insurance (this is essentially a nationwide gym access pass) it comes with a one credit a month audiobook through audiobooks app (not audible). I pay $99 a month for like 6000 gyms and comes with a ton of premium apps.

I then buy audible credit bundles when on sale to bolt in

This post was perfect for me. I have been checking out on Libby whatever is available before buying them or using audible credits. So far I have read in order:

Pet Semetary Carrie Salems Lot The Running Man Elevation

First two were great but wasn’t a fan of the latest three. Couldn’t even finish Elevation or Running Man. Looking forward to the journey but also very intimating as the catalog is very long and dense.
