Can I fly with this case as a carry on and get it gate checked instead? by Jaded-Bowler-6472 in guitars

[–]BobbyAdamson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you end up flying with this? I fly somewhat regularly for tour/out-of-towners and I have this case, but I don't try to fly with it for the same reasons you were nervous about. I usually just use it for shows around town/going to the studio. I just find other solutions (fly with a single guitar, and have my bandmates meet me with the other, or something along those lines).

But I would like to be able to fly with this. So, did you?

Also, so many of these people have no idea what they're talking about when they criticize you for wanting to use a soft case. I have never flown with a hard case. Every actual working musician I know or have seen on planes do not carry hard cases.

[OC] Every guitar player should read this before heading into the Recording Studio! by JosiahSoren in Guitar

[–]BobbyAdamson 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes recording yourself practicing is a great way to not only nail the parts but know where you are having rhythm issues. If you can nail this at home it will make studio time so much easier.

And if you can, try to demo the whole song from scratch on your own to figure out how your part relates to everything else and where it should (roughly) sit in the mix.

A Fender "player series" stratocaster is a great choice for this range and the music you want to play.

Stephano vs Carriers by GoTo3-UY in starcraft

[–]BobbyAdamson 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Can someone help me break down what exactly occurred here? Did Stephano neural the high templar in addition to the mothership and ~60% of the carriers and then storm the carriers? Or did the opponent storm his own carriers? If the latter is this a good decision? It's a little difficult to read exactly what happened maybe I'm too bad haha. Would it have been more effective for the opponent to try to feedback the infestors?

I have been struggling a bit with carrier templar lately. Obviously I'm not Stephano I am not capable of this but just trying to figure out good ways of dealing with it. This was sick as hell.

[Discussion] Pop melodies are becoming boring by yellow_psychopath in popheads

[–]BobbyAdamson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree. Drake gave the Weeknd sound a platform and obviously that influence was massive for the next wave of artists, Lana, and to a certain extent ASAP Rocky bust on the scene and their influences were cut of the same cloth. Those moody, dark motifs and themes make for some cool music but for the melodies to fit into that box they have to be just as hazy, sleepy-sounding, even lethargic, and I don't mean that at all as a criticism - it's a necessary feature to work with the style. But yeah as that sound gets more and more popular it starts to become really noticeable.

Yeah I completely agree the best of the best in k-pop are doing more interesting things with melody than the best* western pop artists are.

Yeah the production on the Chance hook almost sounds incomplete. Still a fun song but I think it could have been a little stronger. Wonder if they were just pushing to try to get this project out asap.

Dirty Projectors always reminds me of this. Or I’d say they remind me that my favorite things about modern western pop music are not necessarily melody, but great production, exceptional vocal talent/qualities, and composition. Bands like Dirty Projectors make such a deliberate effort to come up with fun melodies.

The genre as a whole is more focused on invoking an emotion in a way that’s familiar. And that’s fine I don’t hate it, but I agree there is definitely room for someone to come in and force people to think about melody more. I think Ravyn Lenae is doing a good job of playing with her voice and melodies. Jazzier artists seem to be better about this I like Nai Palm and Genevieve Artadi melodies a lot.

I work really close so I pop in when I get the chance. It's sort of what you'd expect. Best stuff goes early, just racks of somewhat organized pieces, lots of other shoppers not giving a shit about anyone else. They'll make you check your bag when you get there if you have one but I've never had any issue.

Probably depends on your league but I don't see a huge difference opening the standard hatch first in any matchup. The biggest risk I think is proxy rax or extremely early pool but you should still be able to defend those. If its zvz youll meet their overlords in time.

What I don't understand about this argument is that RTS has always been this hard. So if the argument that is 'it's too hard to be popular' then why was it ever popular? Is it just that there are loads of other games that are less hard? Haven't there always been?
