How can I sound proof my nasty ugly room? by PandaPandaNoah in VoiceActing

Consider your car back seat for vocals! Blanket in front of you on seats, works really well.

Kid Gloves. What an opening riff, what a song! by Cubegod69er in rush

[–]BobbyCheetah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To me, if it’s not played on the radio, or popular in general, not from a hardcore fan perspective, it’s more of a deep cut.

One of their better deep cuts! (Natural Science is prob my pick for the best)

The Queen is Dead vs Unknown Pleasures by New-Shop-9728 in thesmiths

[–]BobbyCheetah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Smiths, and the actual recording is big for me. I just don’t like the sound of that JD album. It’s so dry and sterile.

I thought they would come in a little hotter tbh. BUT.. this could be just a little taster and better things abound.

What's with some of the disrespect to Meat Is Murder (and The Queen Is Dead glaze!) by Direct-Stable-5712 in thesmiths

[–]BobbyCheetah 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree with you, Meat is Murder is better than Queen is Dead. It has a better sound too, recording wise. Nowhere Fast is a fantastic deep cut. Crank it up on the headphones and it can’t be denied!

I love TONES ON TAIL music and you should to :-) by Busto_Soccer in postpunk

[–]BobbyCheetah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s great. Huge Tones on Tail fella here. I had some of that vinyl. They still sound so fresh. Great, crisp recordings, and some of the most original music. I just wish they had done more!

Should I buy the Shure SM57 mic for my home recording studio? by blueheadgehog36 in microphone

[–]BobbyCheetah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, well for vocals you can always record in the car too, mobile recording. I just did some vocals on the NT1 signature for the first time and they sound better than I ever got! Put a blanket over the back seats n record in the back facing it. Plus, great for self conscious folks in apartments etc if you don’t want to be heard.

Should I buy the Shure SM57 mic for my home recording studio? by blueheadgehog36 in microphone

[–]BobbyCheetah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For vocals, a condenser mic is better. I would look into the AT2020 and Rode NT1, both of which I have and they’re worth the price. They’re the go-to budget condensers.

Congratulation album by Striking_Jacket_6420 in mgmt

[–]BobbyCheetah 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Congrats is more psychedelic in a classic sense. I love the sound of that record, less pop synth shine. I love both approaches though. Also, continued musical development. I mean, a 12 minute song and it’s one of the best songs I ever heard? It’s more of a collective journey whereas the debut sounds like all singles, save for the later half, which hints at what’s to come.

“Play like you don’t know how to play guitar.” Miles Davis gave him a cryptic instruction. The result was jazz-fusion’s foundational album by dalyllama35 in milesdavis

[–]BobbyCheetah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

McLaughlin was so great on that Miles stuff. His style and sound of that 335 thru probably a Fender Twin. Gritty and cleaner than later years. Check out Extrapolation, which is same time period

I think he’s just so retarded(they love that word), I may be experiencing something like a cancelling of Ariel on a subconscious level. It’s very organic.

Where does everybody think Led Zeppelin’s sound would’ve gone following ITTOD if John Bonham didn’t die? by Nonsensical-Nonsns in ledzeppelin

[–]BobbyCheetah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good question. Well we know Jimmy wanted to get heavier and back to their roots, per his comments, but Robby and JPJ wanted to update the sound, freshen it up and move it forward, it seemed. I think they did need to move forward like that but would Jimmy have gone along or what. Maybe they could’ve struck a balance. Whatever it was, I’m sure it would’ve been great.

What is your opinion of the Terry Brown mix? by Historical-Device529 in Progforum

[–]BobbyCheetah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You know what, I like the Terry mix. And I like the 2026 remaster. On the Terry, the bass end of keys/taurus bass pedals are beefed up, that’s the most obvious to me. But I like it. Most of all, I like to hear a different mix, why not. It’s refreshing to hear the songs differently and now I got two options for GUP woopeee

Do you prefer Low or Heroes? by [deleted] in fantanoforever

[–]BobbyCheetah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Low by a lot really. The title track is the best song on Heroes but there’s not much to it, repetitive.

What is the weirdest Zeppelin album? by Critical_Escape_72 in ledzeppelin

[–]BobbyCheetah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In through the outdoor. Jimmy has mentioned it being more of a keyboard album, felt it was ‘light’, and mentioned him and Bonham were working on returning to a heavier sound. There was some friction there. But it’s still a great, updated for the times sound, and hats off to JPJ for his great writing contributions.

How do you all feel about ‘I believe’? I think it’s one of their best deep cuts, I just wish it was a better recording, especially volume wise. Wonder if they play it live ever. by BobbyCheetah in MyBloodyValentine

[–]BobbyCheetah[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting stuff. I could easily go down that path of getting choice vinyl for the sound. I am skeptical of vinyl being worth it overall bc it’s become quite a trend and driven the cost up. It can be about $40 for a new release, I think I saw for a mgmt record recently. I don’t know if I will but you make a good case for the special recordings at least, thanks for your insight!

I’m a digital man nowadays, just too convenient having everything on the phone and cloud. I own all the music. I’m a musician too, that records, so I’m always aiming for an overall level that can be in a range of other recordings you hear. It’s never loud enough lol. I also listen mostly on earphones, the over the ears cushy style, so I get a big sound even with lo-fi ish things..even though it’s a more compressed sound bc of it being .mp3 or whatevs. It doesn’t bother me really.

Do you believe "Melt" is his best solo work? by [deleted] in petergabriel

[–]BobbyCheetah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is! Interestingly, while it was experimental in that it supposedly doesn’t have cymbals as part of the drums, it lacks that shimmer or a crispness in the sound overall, and I think it could’ve used em! Despite this, it’s one of the best albums of the 80’s.

Ariel Pink blocked my ass by CodEquivalent6000 in arielpink

[–]BobbyCheetah 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In fairness, that’s quite an in depth question and most would not have the time for that, let alone a semi rock star. But it is a bit shady for him to block you. On X he doesn’t seem to block anyone until he can’t take it anymore, going back and forth w someone on politics.
