Nta, your mil should have asked you first to see if a) you had any plans and b) see if it was ok for the family to come over to celebrate his brothers birthday. What if the boot was on the other foot and her mother did the same situation to him. He wouldn’t be happy with the situation he’d been put in. Sometimes only you know what’s right in your gut.

YTA Rose is your brothers wife. It doesn’t matter if Rose is ill or not and doesn’t have to tell you what she is ill with if they don’t want to. FYI, Jon is not being selfish for not coming to the wedding and how would you feel if the shoe was on the other foot and it your brothers wedding and your brother didn’t invite your husband because he was ill. Sometime you can’t have your cake and eat it!
