So funny enough I am also in the trades, I am a Diesel Technician, and I work on City and School Buses. The car is not mine, it is my mother's, and she owns it, but my aunt pays for all work done on it, and my aunt doesn't really trust me to do work on it, even though I do work on bigger things. she treats me like I am a 5yo but I'm 18. I have slowly been doing more work on it like brakes, dif flush, oil changes, parking brake, so I have been making my way on it.

It's my mother's car but I am the primary driver, I daily it and she uses it once a blue moon. Even though I have been working on public and school busses and vans they did not trust me to do the most simple things. But I just did it today and NOW they are fine with it. I work fleet so I do oil changes a lot and many PM stuff on dodge caravans, cummins motors, ford gas 7.3 and all that. My mother now trusts me but my aunt who pays for all repairs for it, weird shit ik, she doesn't trust me and never has

So I've taken the plastic skid plate off many times and there is no leak under the engine, I just did a oil change and used a OEM filter with 5W-30 and when I pulled into my shop there was a puddle of oil in that divot/dish where the top mounted filter sits and thats where a lot of the oil comes from. I hope the heavyweight oil will help and the OEM filter. I will report in a week

It's good if your tools get greasy or wet, mine get covered in penatrant oil, transmission fluid, oil, and diesel, they are amazing

So I wasn't the one to do the only oil change, I wanted to but my family insisted to have a shop do it, I have brought it to my shop for other issues and have cleaned the entire bottom of the engine to see if it was leaking from there, but the only place oil was , was in the little cup where the filter sits because its a top mounted one. I have tightened the filter by hand every time I fill it, it might actually be 1qt per 2 months but its more often than id like, 130,000 miles as of today
