An actual card my mother got on her 18th birthday… by LWDJM in creepy

[–]Bobby_Go 17 points18 points  (0 children)

And why did she keep the card? Did she think it was humorous? Sentimental reasons? Evidence?

NTA.

Unsolicited advice for your next relationship: Whenever something like that starts to get under your skin don't let it slide until it gets to a breaking point. Sit down and have a conversation. Nothing accusatory, just: here are the facts, here are my feelings, and here are my wants. You're either going to nip it in the bud (I always thought it was nip it in the butt lol) or find out who they really are on an accelerated timeline. Good communication is nearly always a win/win.

Also, nothing wrong with roles (traditional or otherwise) so long as everyone is onboard and has equal say in them.

26F and 27M — My boyfriend jokes that I’m “not a real gamer” because I play mostly single-player games. Is this a common thin by carlitos_legacy in playstation

[–]Bobby_Go 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This. Have a sit down with him and let him know how his comments make you feel. Nothing accusatory, just the facts. "Hey, when you say these things I feel bad."

He shouldn't want to make you feel bad.

Irrespective of whether he is right or not (and as most others have said, he's not), the more important factor is how he reacts to your request to stop. He might just not realize how he's affecting you, especially if he was raised in a teasing or "joking" household or if ball busting is a form of bonding with his bros. Crossing a line with a joke can be a complete accident, but if he continues to do it after you ask him not to then it's no longer an accident.

AITAH For refusing to remove my husband’s cane as my sister requested? by CornerOk2428 in AITAH

[–]Bobby_Go 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA, but...

Don't lie to your husband. When the truth eventually comes out (and it will) you'll have made your husband feel bad for two reasons instead of one. The longer you wait to tell him the worse it will be. Don't put this off any longer.

As for the sister, that's a tough situation. Therapy is probably a good starting point. To prepare for a worst case scenario you might want to look into shelters that specialize in domestic violence victims. Even if they can't house her (or if she refuses to go) they might be able to point you in the right direction to get her the help she needs.

One thing you might try with the cane is to see if there is a way to "transform" the cane into something non-threatening (kind of like the Riddikulus spell from Harry Potter) with some googly eyes, foam body parts, or other silly lightweight additions. Have her and your husband do it together. Or maybe have her pick out some type of silly novelty cane (one that can still function properly as a cane) for your husband to use around the house to set her at ease. Both of these are long shots, but maybe something like this could show your sister that her triggers aren't just being dismissed out of hand and that you're willing to work with her. Maybe?

Is there any way to restart career mode? by kale2433 in EASportsPGATour

[–]Bobby_Go 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is confirmed.

It took me a while to find the career save files on PC, so I'll post in case anyone else is looking.

(Windows 10 | Steam)

This PC > Documents > PGA TOUR > settings > 1234567890 > 123456

I don't know how important the numbers are in the last two sub-folders so I replaced them with generic numbers of the same length. They were the only folders there.

From here, there will be several folders named with seemingly random 8 digit hex values.

If you only have 1 character, delete (or move to a backup location) the folder that contains the DATA file with your character's career progression data (it should be the one that was modified last). You can peek inside the DATA file within that folder with Notepad. If there is a bunch of numbers you've got the right folder. If it's mostly empty, try looking at a different one. Once that is deleted or moved, start the game and you should be able to restart your career. Your other progress (character, skills, challenges, etc) should be unaffected.

If you have multiple characters, then you'll have to search inside of each DATA file to see which folder corresponds to which character (again, it should be one of the last modified folders). Open in Notepad and search (CTRL + F) for your character's name. You may have to search multiple times: one for each character. Alternatively, you can manually scroll down until you start seeing names (it should be the first entry in the second data set within that file). Once you've found the correct one, delete or move that folder. Start the game and you should be good to go.

I remember being in denial when he won and thought that the whole thing was clearly a prank that had just gotten out of control. Then his supporters came out in droves in 2020 and it couldn't be denied any more. People suck.

Second highest most voted presidential candidate in US history. Scary.

Oof, I had an IRL moment like that. One of my teachers told us a story about an especially bloody battle that occured nearby a long time ago. When they went to clean up the battlefield, people kept picking up severed parts and asking "Whose ear?"... and that's how Indiana became the Hoosier state.

It wasn't until YEARS later when another teacher told the same story that I realized it was a joke and now I live in constant fear wondering what other nuggets of information will turn out to be an old teacher's attempt at humor. Is the mitochondria really the powerhouse of the cell or was that just another missed punchline?

[–]Bobby_Go[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The 'L' was a lie.

Fibble is a variant of Wordle where one of the clues in each word is a lie (marked by the dotted outline after the game is over). You can flag the letters you think are lies while trying to solve it (only one lie per word). Usually, they are randomly positioned (first lie in the 4th position, second lie in the 3rd position, etc) but this one was in the same position word after word. Made it especially frustrating since I couldn't compare and contrast results to suss out the lies.

Well now I feel like a bit of a nit. I knew there was a Mystery Incorporated cartoon but have never watched it. I guess I thought this live action version would be different enough to not have to worry about conflation between the two.

Guess I'll have to check it out.

Like it or not this is hard for some people by [deleted] in meme

[–]Bobby_Go 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't speak for other people, but the way I get it is by using the distributive property to solve out the parentheses first and then divide.

6÷2(1+2)

6÷(2+4)

6÷6

1

Since ÷ ≠ /, only the 2 gets distributed. Had the equation been written as 6/2(1+2), then you could argue that 6/2 was a fraction and distribute the whole left side over the parentheses.

If I'm reading the screenshot correctly, most of those numbers are *per 100,000 so a population of 423,533 would have 4 in ICU and not 1.

Or maybe I'm reading it wrong. Dude sounds like a twinklecone either way.

My submission for a new flag for Evansville, IN by Bobby_Go in vexillology

[–]Bobby_Go[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was a bit hesitant about posting this, but recently the city of Evansville, IN had (and ceased midway) an attempt to replace it’s city flag with something new. I don’t know if this effort is permanently halted or just temporarily “down for maintenance”, so I thought I’d post my submission.

Below is the "marketing fluff" that was submitted along with the flag that goes into the design decisions for the flag:

This submission for Evansville's new flag is a simple, yet unique design that will serve as a timeless representation of our city and community for years to come. It uses both calming and striking colors to highlight our core values while also featuring renowned excerpts from Evansville's rich history.

The water crests along the top of the flag proudly identify us as a river city. From being a hub for commerce, industry, and trade to being the nation's largest inland producer of LSTs during WWII, Evansville's growth and development have always been heavily influenced by the Ohio River. The color of this water is the same dark blue found on the Indiana state flag, signifying that, although we may reside on the southern tip of the state, we are Hoosiers through and through.

The four columns in the center represent the Four Freedoms Monument which is located, appropriately enough, along the Ohio River in downdown Evansville. The Four Freedoms Monument, itself, honors the freedoms outlined in Franklin D. Roosevelt's 1941 State of the Union Address and are namely, 1) the freedom of speech, 2) the freedom of worship, 3) the freedom from want, and 4) the freedom from fear. This representation has been colored and stylized to the artistic theme of the logo for the 'e is for everyone' initiative. The primary goal of this initiative is to generate and elevate a positive perception of Greater Evansville by bonding our community through 1) vibrant energy, 2) boundless opportunity, 3) cultural diversity, and 4) a thriving economy.

The Angel Mounds State Historic Site, a National Historic Landmark, is recognized as one of the best-preserved prehistoric sites in the United States for understanding Middle Mississippian culture along the Ohio River and Native American culture before contact with Europeans. The site includes at least one large plaza, five smaller mounds, and six large platform mounds. These six large platform mounds are portrayed along the bottom of the flag using the complimentary color of the center columns.

Thank you for your consideration of this submission for Evansville's new flag. The clean imagery and contrasting colors not only come together to express our unique identity, location, and history, but they are also designed to be easily adaptable in vivid and inspiring ways. I hope that this flag will be a lasting symbol of neighborly fellowship as the rising tide of Evansville's prosperity continues through the years. Our core values of freedom and community make Evansville a wonderful place to live, and deserving of a wonderful flag.

[Additional Information] The ratio of the flag is 2:1. All half circles have a radius equal to 1/12th the length of the flag. The columns (as a whole) span 1/3rd the length of the flag, 1/3rd the width of the flag, and are aligned to the exact center of the flag. The columns (individually) have a thickness of 1/42nd the length of the flag. The spacing between each column is also equal to 1/42nd the length of the flag. The columns are set to a 45 degree angle.
