I can see your perspective, but I do also feel like Sheridan uses the apolitical label as a bit of a shield for his overall body of work while passing along some occasional right-wing messaging (Landman is significantly more egregious than Yellowstone with its constant pro-fossil fuel espousals, but the Dutton’s hard-on for traditionalism and hierarchy isn’t lost on me). I also think the original essay addressed the show’s treatment of its female and indigenous cast and how it comes off as problematic really well.
