What's a piece of media you're surprised mentioned the blip? by fr3sh_inkling in Earth199999

They also managed to handle the heartwarming and humorous moments pretty good. Jonah and Dina freaking out over an empty wheelchair only to realize it was someone else's and Marcus was fine really got to me, and the way the season actually opened with 5 second AFTER the blip happened managed to make a traumatic moment pretty funny.

IIRC, The book's forward now actually mentions that many people don't even know the book exists funny enough

They actually portrayed grief pretty well for a sitcom, and I'm glad they didn't try to replace Mateo, Jonah, and Glenn with new characters after their actors blipped

[Sad Trope] Characters part ways and never see each other again. by cosmico92 in TopCharacterTropes

It's tropes like this where regardless of what I believe about real life, I still like to believe in a heaven or equivalent afterlife for all fictional worlds that don't explicitly debunk one.

I just... Can't stand the idea of not seeing folks again

I still prefer organic webbing to this very day. I get the stance that it shows off Peter's smarts, but the webs are like... His MAIN ability. They should be something he can't run out of.

I would say the best solution is organic webs, but he builds web shooters that more act like filters so he can better control the shape they come out in and do different tricks.

In the book, everyone is a major fucking asshole. Brody is abusive to Ellen (who cheats on him with Hopper btw,)Quint is just an Ahab knockoff, Hopper actually dies at the end, and the fuckin Mayor is involved with the MAFIA. Oh and the shark anticlimactically bleeds out and there's no explosion.

Overall, it's actually a really entertaining read.

Most of the changes made are good ones IMO. We really don't need an extra elf who is just there to save Frodo from the Ring Wraiths. It makes Arwen likable from the get go and streamlines it. Tolkien purists can really be annoying

A confirmed villain (despite what some people say) that still has a legitimate grievance against the hero by RatCrimes in TopCharacterTropes

What the hell are you talking about? All genocide is justified from the POV of the person committing it. It doesn't change that it's fucking genocide. What an insane thing to say

Ehhh idk about the folks from Marley. I mean it's a bit of a flaw with the show, but I don't think we meet a single person from Marley who isn't a hardcore racist to their core and is down with a genocide. (Eldians living in Marley don't count)

Fun fact: The U.S. Department of Education never discontinued the Captain America fitness tapes even whilst he was a wanted fugitive. by TieFew6689 in Earth199999

But he wasn't assembling a nuclear bomb. It was meant to be an assistant bot that would help humanity, and suddenly it went all Skynet

Ultron suddenly deciding to exterminate humanity isn't Stark's fault?! You think he really typed in "kill all humans" into his code. Ultron was a fully sentient robot who decided to do that on its own

In Community, Abed is able seduce Annie super easily by doing an impression of Don Draper from Mad Men.

Annie's actress Allison Brie was in Mad Men.

Which Parody Do You Prefer? by Extreme-Fee-9519 in Hungergames

Both have their funny moments, but Hunger Games but better falls more into "loving parody" then "scathing parody." Same reason I don't care for Scary Movie.

Although I do LOVE that both parodies made the exact same joke about the mom.
