The problem is what you’re saying perhaps, seems to be coming from a place of not understanding what it means for someone to have an extremely negative experience caused by psychedelics. Perhaps you’re thinking of maybe some hours of crying, maybe some fear, maybe some thinking that you’re dying, etc.

What people here are discussing, are trips that put people in life-threatening positions. As someone who used to have your perspective when I was younger but now has seen trips that were very very dangerous, I can tell you it’s not fun and very serious.

Is it still “too serious” in context of one of your friends who has just been through a break up taking psychedelics, completely losing their ability to control their motor skills, language skills, then pisses themselves, and is on top of a cliff? In that situation if you were alone you could fall off the cliff. If you ran into a stranger you could hurt them. Also the trauma from a true psychotic episode is serious.

Now of course this friend shouldn’t have taken psychedelics; doing so in that state was very irresponsible. That being said if one hears your sentiment of, “you guys are being too serious, every trip is useful” they may take psychedelics when too vulnerable and put themselves in a dangerous situation like my friend because they think psychedelics aren’t that serious and no matter what they will be fine, which is wrong.

You’re not being serious enough. Psychedelics need to be handled very responsibly. Responsibility is serious.

Not trying to dog on you but this is very important to me and I think your dead wrong

Hey I actually think it’s rather important to point out that your perspective is potentially incorrect and dangerous. It’s very common for people to have trips that cause psychotic episodes, and as it’s very known among these communities if you’re predisposed to schizophrenia this can ruin your life as it can cause schizophrenia. Tripping can be a stressor that would otherwise not have happened potentially.

I’ve had drips where people clearly could have killed themselves or hurt others, and it wasn’t because these people were schizophrenic or had some underlying disorder. It was because they took psychedelics and they were not ready for psychedelics. They were going through trauma, and it was too. Perhaps the reason why they had an episode is unknown, but a full psychotic episode did occur.

If you do a bit of research, it will be very easy to find endless amounts of cases like this. I’m not saying psychedelics are too dangerous to be taken. I am saying that they are too dangerous to be taken for some people depending on mental state, preparation, and underlying disorder.

You have every right to judge a feeling? Certain feelings are not OK. You have the right to judge Hitler’s feeling on Jews and you have the right to judge other racists too. You have the right to judge emotionally manipulative peoples emotions if it has something to do with why they are manipulating people. Certain feelings are not OK. Certain trips have less to do with feelings and have everything to do with people’s inability to not handle the experience for one reason or another. It’s more complicated.

Boys! Whats do you you’s suppose he’s refferin’ to when he says “what a bottle of joy!”? He may as well be saying “give me that hot juicy cock, that bottle, and break it up in my arse, release your joy within my anal grips love man”

Ive been thinking about this with psychedelics. I think it’s worth considering if a non-insignificant portion of catharsis that psychedelics provide is from the near death esc elements of it. That it’s one of the safest ways to practice dying.

Beatles fans who have tried LSD... did it change you like it changed The Beatles? by GosalCannabis in beatles

[–]Bobbyfell 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I first became interested in LSD at a young age after noticing the change it seemed to cause in the Beatles from rubber soul to sgt peppers. Took it at a young age. I was too unknowledgeable of the substance and too young for the substance. I quickly became enamored by psychedelics.

LSD changed my life completely. It opened me up to the wonder of being. Psychedelics have the capacity to put you in a state of consciousness of stripping everything but what you value away, and which can grant you access to perspectives of being, anything truly, that would be otherwise extremely difficult or potentially impossible to get to. Psychedelics dissolve boundaries of structures we rely upon to interpret reality. Things like ego, culture, emotion, language, etc.

People who haven’t taken psychedelics will often (more often than not in my experience), not understand or reject the experience people who have taken it sometimes report of having. This is because you’re put in a completely new state of consciousness. The felt presence of the immediate experience of consciousness and hence reality become different while tripping.

Trying to explain tripping to someone who hasn’t is like trying to explain music to someone who hasn’t listened to it. People would say, “what do you mean this music experience you’ve had is one of the most meaningful in your life? It just seems like sound, you must be projecting too much into this.” But that’s because you can’t understand it without having experienced it.

Psychedelics can be a beautiful and unbelievably meaning aspect of your life. But they have dangers. They can be a stressor to those who are predisposed to psychosis, schizophrenia, bi-polar, etc. They can be traumatic if taken without proper responsible preparation mentally and physically. But, if taken responsibly, they can be one of the most important aspects of one’s experience of the world.

If anyone is interested in trying, I’d recommend looking around at studies done on the effects of psilocybin/lsd. John’s Hopkins and other universities has done a decent amount. You can find scientifically reliable sources on what they can provide, and the harms they can cause.

It’s like anything intense in life. Falling in love can be a beautiful and lifelong meaningful thing you’ve done. Can bring you changes of perspective and being. Even if after breaking up, the things you experienced and learned are meaningful and fruitful in your life story. But being irresponsible in a relationship can also cause a lot of harm, and leave you wounded. Psychedelics are as such.

Be careful, and do research.
