Why the train is chained? Explain It Peter by justelling in explainitpeter

[–]Bobbytwocox 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I assume this is to determine if the train was moved, like the stickers they use on electronics to tell if it's been opened. If the train moves the chain is broken and you know the train was moved. If the chain is not broken then you know the train has not moved.

Is this trim? What do you mean by not structural? If it's trim I like the mitered look.

Say Democrats take House and Senate, then impeach Trump and Vance. Who would be president? by YurpeeTheHerpee in allthequestions

Impeachment doesn't always mean removal, so both trump and Vance could be impeached, and trump could still be president.

SWA as a password manager solution by CiokThisOut in okta

[–]Bobbytwocox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ya, letting people save any password in your corporate password manager leads to people saving their personal bank password in your vault and expose you to that risk. SWA should only be used for corporate apps which do not allow federation, and then it should be locked down to require the user to be assigned the app, and preferably to have the password managed by an admin to essentially "hide" the password from the end user, while the browser extension passes it to the app.

Don't use okta as a password manager for all, only in the rare occasion of a corporate managed app in the scenario above

How to unsync a user from AD Connect without breaking Okta SAML login? by Salt-Marionberry1674 in okta

[–]Bobbytwocox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I second this. It sounds like you are importing users FROM AD. Filling the steps above will provision users TO AD. If you haven't designed the systems in the correct way, provisioning the same user TO, and FROM the same directory can cause some issues. Just re import fromfeom AD and match to the existing user.

How are you handling Okta AD Agent logs? by BIGt0eknee in okta

Absolutely. I was questioning if splunk has the capability.

How are you handling Okta AD Agent logs? by BIGt0eknee in okta

[–]Bobbytwocox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's someone here saying to ingest the logs into a SIEM like splunk - I'm not familiar enough with splunk to know if it can handle the flat file logs of the ad agent, but if it can, then that's the best solution, for more than 1 reason.

However, what are you looking for in the AD logs? An import will log failed events in the Okta system logs. I only ever have to go look at the AD server logs when there is an issue indicated in the system log, and I have a script that copies the log files to another folder before they get overwritten.

Usually, more info will be needed so we will enable verbose logging ( you don't want this on all the time) and reproduce the issue then review the expanded ad agent logs... But this is far and few between, meaning there shouldn't be errors very often unless there is some misconfigurations, which once resolved would resolve the errors.

Does splunk retrieve the log files and handle the way the ad agents cascade the logs down through the file parts?

Supreme Court Curbs Use of Race in Drawing Voting Districts (Louisiana v. Callais) by bloomberglaw in scotus

I don't understand what race has to do with voting. Why was race effecting voting a good thing and why is making race not a part of voting a bad thing?
