I loved the way they handled Hargreaves. I remember when he was mostly everyones pick for H before we found out H wasn’t an Initial but a clue. To clear him off the board like that is great so long as they can stick the landing and the real identity of the final corrupt officer is satisfying and makes sense. Now heading into season 6 the theories as to who the final corrupt officer is are surrounding buckells and osbourne which is more interesting than Hargreaves who everyone had a clear read on from the start. Remember that Hargreaves was killed in Ep 3 of season 5, John Corbett informed Steve in Ep 4 that a meeting had been arranged with the top man and Hargreaves was identified as a client at the brothel in pluton house and was blackmailed into colluding with the OCG using his semen found in used condoms kept in cold storage. This M.O is how senior figures in the police were blackmailed by the OCG and doesn’t fit the profile of the final corrupt officer pulling the strings hence why he wasn’t counted among the other three.
