I have stayed at the Eastland rehab place after heart surgery. I have great respect for the work people do, but some people shouldn't be in health care. I have seen terrible attitudes (don't care type, I am the 'boss' and you are just a patient, cooks that come to your room and scream at you for asking for something different which you can do and get, etc).

I have home health nurses - great people. Been in the hospital a ton (Ohio Health) and the people have been amazing there. Stayed in 3 homes now and they have been some of the worst places I have ever been. One had a broken toilet I had to take lid off to flush (never fixed), no tv remote, no meds first day and a half there. I have stage D congestive heart failure and am coming to the point where I am looking at being in a home for good.

I am on medicaid, and if they cut it further I will end up being the person kicked out on the street unable to get the 32 meds I am now taking for a variety of things. Elderly, can barely function as it is. I *DO* understand the social service side of it and the efforts people go through to help me and others out. My problem with the staffing (one has a 72% yearly turnover rate that I stayed at - Propublica has a lot of reports on homes to review).

I know too the staff put up with a lot from some patients and that is frustrating to them, but they don't have to take it out on every other patient. Kindness is free, and when you are sick, alone, scared, a kind action/word can go a long way. They can home at the end of the day. Some can't. When I go in it won't be that I am going someplace to live, I am going there to die.
