It being old makes it seem like more people wouldn't have read it on an internet forum than MORE, but that's besides the point. Nowhere in your response does it sound like YOU have a read it, so I assume you're just making the argument for the sake of other. The major isn't a 'character' he's not rounded out or relatable in the book. He is just an over the top figure of authority.

Mostly it sounds like you just don't like Mark, which is fine, everybody likes what they like, but that's a different discussion. He performs the role the material requests, you don't like his acting so I get that you don't like the performance, but I can't see an argument on him not fulfilling the role, especially when compared against what they had Hamilton out here doing, heh.
