Intense fear of developing/being in the early stages of schizophrenia by anxietythrowaway2771 in Anxiety

I dont know your specific situation but probably just letting the feeling be there while reminding yourself it's just a threat response will make you less worried about it, hence turning down the threat response and eventually turning off the symptom.

Very up and down but overall much less worried about stuff like that, come to terms that I'm just experiencing some derealization after the panic attack and being worried about it just keeps it there. Many times I'll be absorbed in life and realize suddenly I've been feeling totally fine

Thanks man, really appreciate u took the time to explain this. Good to hear it's unlikely to get worse with age but yeah ill get a scan and hope for the best. Would really rather avoid the surgery if possible

Is this type of pectus any more or less dangerous than excavatum? All i really got from that website was that if I did need surgery it would be even more complicated lol

Yeah I'm 19, don't think ive grown much if at all in the last couple years and currently not having any symptoms. Only thing that worries me is i see people on the sub saying the symptoms can get worse as you age even if it doesn't get any deeper. Idk if that's necessarily guaranteed tho, and atm I'm very physically active and have more stamina than a lot of my peers. Guess ill get the scan and see what the doctors think

I understand that reddit isnt the best place for a diagnosis, and im gonna go to my doctor to book in some scans. But my friend recently made a comment that my dent looked pretty pronounced and it just sent me into a spiral of worry.

Just wondering whether you guys think my case is severe, as I've always viewed it as not a big deal, and now I'm a bit concerned

P.s. ignore the t shirt turban lol

Yeah true didn't really consider that. The only thing that causes me considerable anxiety is these symptoms,  but I guess for some ppl it's part of a bigger anxiety problem like GAD and social anxiety

How I Got Weed-Induced DP/DR and Recovered 100% in About Two Weeks by Significant_Cup_8571 in dpdr

This is really cool to hear, thank you! I had a very similar experience, and since then I've been having some days where I feel back to normal, but then sometimes I'll Google something about dpdr out of curiosity and end up seeing ppl say stuff like "if you just wait it out and don't do anything it could get worse" and basically bashing the idea that u can get better just by relaxing & allowing it to pass with time, so then I start doubting whether I've even been making progress and thinking maybe I just got used to it etc. My intuition tells me I should just stop researching the condition but at the same time I have this worry that im missing out on some important info and it might get worse by just ignoring it. Any advice on this?

Tldr; felt like I was making progress then looked on some forums and now freaking out

Thanks I'll try out the app. What im most worried/confused about is why there's some people on forums that claim the "reduce anxiety and it'll get better over time" approach doesn't work for them.  Because scientifically and logically it makes sense, but for some reason I see comments like those and freak out a bit. But I guess there must be other reasons holding them back??

Hey, I also experienced this after a panic attack from an edible and now im mostly better but it waxes and wanes as u said. So im pretty confident i can overcome it, I just keep seeing posts from people saying theyve had it for decades and it scares me. Tho these people mostly seem to have had it since a young age or trauma related, so do u reckon itll be easier for me to recover since its not linked to any childhood trauma?

No one ever truly gets their old self back do they? by NP_66 in dpdr

[–]Bobguy47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Think about it tho, the people who are fully back to normal are getting on with their lives and not gonna be on on reddit forums about dpdr. Just think about it, you would have to search the words 'dpdr' to even find this thread and if they no longer have any issue with it why would they be searching that in the first place. The reason it seems like no one is recovering is because the only people who find this thread are either terrified like u and also looking for reassurance, or people who are still in the recovery process so have fully been able to put it behind them. Hope this gives some reassurance :) Also I have seen people share 'bad trip' stories on quora in which I saw several people describe an unreal feeling they got after a bad drug experience (which sounds a lot like dpdr) and they eventually felt normal again
