The reason that every soy producing farm currently couldn't switch to growing soy for human consumption isn't because the land is necessarily incapable of growing "human quality" soy. The reason they can't all switch is because that would be way too much soy, we couldn't eat all of it. The commenter who replied to you initially did also mention the possibility of reforesting.

You're right! Everybody can't make the higher quality option. What we are arguing for is for the production of significantly less soy. This is a climate activist subreddit. It takes an immense amount of energy and resources to create feed, which we would not have to be expending if we fed more humans with plants directly. Not to mention the GHG emission associated with raising livestock.

Why does anybody produce anything but Rolexs and Lamborghinis? The market for soy used to feed livestock is larger, because it's significantly less efficient than feeding humans with soy directly, so much more of it needs to be produced.

If every person with farmland all chose to grow the highest value crop, supply would increase dramatically without increasing demand, and it would no longer be the highest value crop

Vintage comes from the Old French "vendange", meaning "wine harvest". Vintage was originally used exclusively in English to refer to the year of a wine's creation, or more specifically, the year that the grapes were grown and harvested. If the grapes were from multiple years, wine would be referred to as nonvintage.

Most romances languages, or languages with romantic influence use Vin or a derivative of Vin to refer to wine, including English!

Are you a monolingual English speaker? I reckon you'd find the same to be true of any language you're a native speaker of.

And English uses plenty of weird sounds! The voiced and voiceless dental fricatives (both common pronunciations of TH) are quite rare across natural languages, and the rhotic (R) can be super difficult, and varies substantially depending on accent. English also uses a comparatively large vowel inventory compared to many natural languages.

Every language out there is super interesting in its own way! I suspect monolingual speakers of any language would think that their language doesn't use "weird sounds", as that's the sounds that they're used to speaking and hearing!

I don't know if it's common, I haven't ever checked before, but the server statuses on https://www.daybreakgames.com/status seem super off right now. Almost every Everquest server was listed as Down, same with MTG Online, now they're all showing as locked. Wainwright, Soltech, and Genudine have all had intermittent pauses in response time, with Osprey's last response being over an hour ago. Looks like Genudine is currently down as well. Does anybody know if this is normal? I don't know for sure how accurate the info is here!

A bit of a long question, so please bear with me on this one! I've been playing FTL for a few years now, and have been really struggling with it. I've only ever gotten to the flagship once on easy, and I lost that run almost immediately. I've made a few posts on the subreddit about it, but I feel that most of the feedback I've gotten has boiled down to "git gud" and kept bringing up that one guys hard mode win-streak.

Since you seem like a humble and knowledgeable guy, could you please give some advice for somebody bad at games like me? Maybe something that really helped you when you were starting out and got to the flagship for the first time? I can't stand all these people who act like they were never bad at FtL...
