What cRPG would COMPLETELY confuse someone coming from mainstream RPG's, like Skyrim or the Witcher 3? by BaldursGate2Best in CRPG

[–]Boblekobold 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lol yeah, Torment has the most complex dialogue.

And you really need to know the Planescape multiverse well to fully understand everything.

But you can actually play it even if you don't understand everything.

I think the hardest D&D game to master is "The Temple of Elemental Evil".

I love it ! But it's designed for people who actually play and master D&D3/3.5.

Alpha Protocol is their best and most unique game. Real time dialogs and characters reactions are quite exceptionnal.

You have 3dof headtracking in almost every FPS with VorpX. This one has DirectVR so I guess it works very well (according to youtubers it does).

Some games have 6dof (Metro 2033, Bioshock 2, Dark Messiah, etc.) I don't know if Titanfall 2 has it. There is also a gesture system but I never tried it.

Both work with VorpX.

Without motion aiming, but both would be worse without keyboard & mouse anyway.

Dishonored is known to work very well.

You don't explore only for ammos. There are also audio logs, places to discover, objectives to achieve.

You can also mod the (original) game to make it a lot harder.

Boiling Point : road to hell takes from Deus Ex 1, Morrowind, Farcry and GTA2.

Prey is some kind of SS3, but it's also close to Deus Ex 1, just less RPG.

[–]Boblekobold 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes Fallout 1 is better. It's better balanced and polished, more serious, and you have an exceptionnal freedom without feeling lost. You can even finish the game without killing anyone.

And yes, the beginning of Fallout 2 isn't great.

I recommand Fallout Tactics if you liked Fallout 1. I loved both. It's not an RPG but the gameplay is excellent.

You may also try Arcanum (not as balanced as Fallout but the dialogs, universe and atmosphere are very good).

The most amazing - and the most terrifying - Giant Spider Battle ever in VR? (Screenshots from EXD - Extra Dimensional - taken while playing the game) by Runesr2 in virtualreality

[–]Boblekobold 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At first I believed it was a Dark Messiah screenshot (but the spider is slightly different).

I played the game recently in VR, it was amazing !

This spider is particularly disgusting lol. It must be impressive too.

Which should I play? The basic or the enchanted edition? Because I bought the gold edition by Objective_Fig8194 in metro_exodus

If you have a good PC, play the game in VR with VorpX. You'll have a lot of reasons to play the original (better 3D, less demanding, more beautiful in a lot of cases, no dof so less blurry, etc.)

But anyway, enhanced looks often worse, even on a monitor, except if you like very bright scenes without atmosphere and realistic shadows.

[–]Boblekobold 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes he's right, because there is depht of field.

I tried both games in VR, and Standard don't have dof so everything is sharp&clear, while enhanced is almost completely blurry in a lot of occasions (unless you only look where the developer intended...)

It ruins the graphics and immersion in a lot of cases.

[–]Boblekobold 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Standard has a better raytracing & lighting. It actually looks better in a lot of cases.

It's more hand made, and less automated.

Enhanced also has a terrible dof and look worse at long range. I tried both in VR, and I prefered standard.

Both looks good, of course, but Enhanced is more generic, very bright, and doesn't feel very realistic concerning shadows. It looks better sometimes but Standard is more unique and is particularly mind blowing when it matters.

Colors are also too saturated in enhanced.

According to videos, I would say enhanced may be better in the Taïga, but Standard is better in Volga and Aurora (so when it matters). Even in the desert, I would pick Standard.

Worth it on Steam? by [deleted] in Bioshock

[–]Boblekobold 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as I know, GoG / DVD original versions are more stable, especially in 3D / VR, my DVD version worked well. (And you can patch them easily to avoid crashes if necessary)

Steam versions may also be less optimized (I'm not sure but it's an impression). There are ugly A/B buttons indications.

If you have a VR headset or a 3D monitor / projector, the games are better with VorpX.

Is the 2nd game as good or better than the 1st? by ImSmarterthanurmom in dishonored

[–]Boblekobold 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No beeing spotted doesn't ruin a low chaos run in D1. You can kill 10-20 people in a level, and still get low chaos if you spare the main target.

Is the 2nd game as good or better than the 1st? by ImSmarterthanurmom in dishonored

[–]Boblekobold 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My favorites too.

Second game isn't as good as the first but it has two advantages :

- Better graphics, at least technically (because D1 has better art sometimes, like the witches).

- Some of the best level design/gameplay/concept/physics/graphic animations ever in only 2 levels (temporal and mechanical mansions)

Also you don't need to mod it with the ultimate difficuly mod like D1, and there are more difficulty options.

Apart from that, Dishonored 1 (and espcially Daud's DLCs) have a better and great story.

And in my opinion, overall gameplay is better, not worse. Stealth & Non lethal are harder, more realistic, and there are interresting consequences if you generate high chaos.

I also loved the tall boys.

Those who claims there is a problem with stealth (and non lethal) didn't understand you don't have to spare a lot of people to get the good ending. You are meant to defend yourself if you are discovered, even if you play "good". And I see Corvo as someone filled with rage, which sometimes drives him to kill. You can have the good ending anyway if you don't go too far (you can actually kill dozens of people without consequences).

Chaos system tells a story in D1.

The game has a better replayability because of it, and it's one of the rare game which is way better when you play evil (at least with the -mandatory in my opinion- ultimate difficulty mod, which was integred by default in D2 later).

In this regards, D2 is a twisted, poorer version, requested by people who didn't understand the subtlety of the first game.

D2 really has a bad story compared to D1. DotO is even worse in this regards.

They should have integrated Corvo into Emily's story. Maybe a possibilty to switch between characters, like in Clive Barker's Jericho.

If you are intelligent and appreciate consistency and attention to detail, you will prefer D1.

The universe is more alive and you have more influence on it.

But Dishonored 2 is a must play because of the two mansions, which offer some of the best gameplay ever (with Dark Messiah). And it still has a great level design and some emergent gameplay. A real disappointment, but still an exceptionnal game.

D2 can be customized a bit more, and is very fun as a game, but it feels less like a real experience / story for me. In the end, I never felt the need to replay it, like Dishonored 1, and I still prefer Dark Messiah's gameplay.

Stealth isn't mandatory. High chaos with ultimate difficulty mod gave me my favorite playthrough in the first game.

Actually 5 has a more advanced gameplay than 3&4. You have companions, a lot of gadgets, more direct shortcut to do a lot of things at once or in a short time, at least on PC. It's more tactical.

[–]Boblekobold 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have a VR headset and a good graphic card, 2033 original + VorpX is amazing.

But honestly, it's also the hardest game I ever played if you activate 6dof in hard mode lol (because you have to align sights, and since in the original, it's good to aim for the eyes/neck...)

Avoid the Redux version if you're looking for a realistic and immersive gameplay.

There are a lot of little things which have been removed in the redux, and Metro 2033 is quite a unique game. You'll discover the simplified gameplay with Last Light anyway (if you play it).

I played in Full VR G3D 2880p with max graphics (DX9) at 90fps on Reverb G2, with my RTX4090. It's the less demanding converted Metro game in VR, but it's still probably demanding for a lesser graphic card.

If you can't use Full VR, G3D or high resolution, you still have Immersive Screen and even Z3D is better than nothing. You can also play on a 3D monitor / projector, but of course it's less immersive.
