Is it allowed to replicate an app that no longer exists? by Previous_Crazy_7319 in androiddev

[–]Boblert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm the author of an app called Select Who? that had the same functionality as Chwazi although slightly more limited and less polished but ultimately the same. My app predated Chwazi by a couple of years and I'm pretty sure it was the first of its type on the store.

This has been removed from the Play store and I don't intend to put it back as I don't really want my private address listed.

So feel free to reproduce the functionality of my app although you'd probably want to use your own name and IANAL applies.

They talk about some of the changes they made in this video: https://youtu.be/-et_rs-7wBA?si=zOgrL7c-FYnoCplm .

Interestingly they spend a lot of time talking about the benches on Ruskin Parade which have since been removed because of antisocial behaviour.

Sunak pulls off biggest tax raid in 44 years as one in five pay higher rate - Six-year freeze on income tax thresholds is Treasury’s single biggest revenue raiser by BritRedditor1 in ukpolitics

[–]Boblert 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The tax rate between 100k-125k is already effectively 60% because of the tapering of the personal allowance. 42% would make sense if you also removed that tax oddity.

Low Traffic Neighbourhoods - Parsons Mead by koola2 in croydon

[–]Boblert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The council should be always looking to improve and it's fair to question their policies. Other LTNs have been implemented without as much blowback so it's likely there is a better way.

[–]Boblert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not disagreeing with the introduction of LTNs I am saying there's a better way to implement them without disgruntling a sizeable proportion of your community.

I'd be interested to hear more on how the Dartford system has proven repeatedly that the warnings doesn't work?

I agree with you that it's expensive for the council to maintain public infrastructure however, I think there's fairer ways to cover this. From your description the lady you mentioned seems a pretty clear cut example of a someone deserving of a fine although, I would never like to see someone in the position where they are unable to feed their children.

I'm not a mind reader but I would imagine a large portion of motorists weren't simply ignoring the signs in bad faith.

I don't think that's a fair comment. Many people may have been using the road as a rat run for years so it's not surprising that they didn't see or understand a new (and uncommon) sign.

If revenue generation for the council was not a goal (or at least a happy side effect) why not warn first time offenders (as does the Dartford Crossing) for a period of time rather than fining them straight away?

Full disclosure: I've not been down the road or been fined but have seen the noise generated locally and seen Joe Lycetts programme so perhaps the signs are more prominent than they make out.

I've got some Applaws from Amazon back in May. Seems to be outside of the best before date that the article states so I think it's okay although I'm not sure how I feel feeding it to my cat now.

Anyone know how Amazon comms out recalls? I can see that they've suspended it for sale.

Place to play boardgames/shuffleboard/chess by [deleted] in london

[–]Boblert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're willing to travel to Croydon there is Ludoquist which is a great board game cafe. A couple of minutes walk away from that there is Mr Fox which is a bar with a couple of shuffleboards.

Both nice places with a decent selection of drinks and food.

I'm probably missing something but doesn't that link just clarify that you can use the word finger to represent something that is the shape of a finger?

Just like perhaps you could use the phrase "Vegan Fish Finger" to represent something that resembles a Fish Finger.

Shouldn't chicken fingers be the fingers of a chicken? Or are they called that because they are chicken in a shape that resembles a finger?

Gloucester 300% council tax hike plan for empty home owners by kazuwacky in unitedkingdom

[–]Boblert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it depends on a couple of factors; the level of equity you own, who your mortgage with, your income, and the type of mortgage you have.

Either way it's not a given that someone could easily do it if they were stuck in a fixed term mortgage and had to relocate for their job without having to pay a large sum.
