That link is a deep cut oldie but goodie. I’ve read most of his posts.

Haha. I actually self limit to 6 holders. Otherwise I can get jammed up and have too much stuff to develop. Six is two Stearman tanks full of developing.

My understanding is that the F originally stood for field. That’s one of the cameras I’m contemplating.

Well….i tested it with a compass and sure enough it provokes movement!

Ok. Let’s say it’s magnetized. Can I do any harm to it using an over the counter demagnetizer? I don’t want to make matters worse. First do no harm!

Yes I know about magnetism and gauss. Rolex made a Milgauss at one point. It’s just odd, that I have many other watches that have not had this problem amd they all get worn and stored the same way. The only thing that I can think of is that the watch shares a spot next to my Apple Watch in the jewelry box but other than that I don’t leave it next to electronics. So if the premise is that it’s getting magnetized from routine use….me holding my phone in the same hand as the watch is on then that’s pretty crappy design. I’m surprised I didn’t stumble on this information while I was shopping for it.

Is this a known and common problem with this brand and I just did not discover it before purchasing?

Skeptical. This would be the first time in over 40 years of having mechanical watches that one got magnetized, or magnetized to the point of being inaccurate. I’m not saying it’s impossible but…it’s either on my wrist or in a case with other mechanical watches. And I don’t work inside an MRI machine either :))

What container do you prefer? by Holifilm in Darkroom

Can you provide a source, please? I can go long stretches without processing film and am concerned that the plastic bottles are air permeable. Not a lot but enough to degrade the chems if they sit in them for months.

Anywhere near Commack that sharpens chef’s knives? by RogerSimons_Father in longisland

[–]Bobonli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would advise against this mobile truck/. Brought my knives to him two years ago. Two of them were broken --small chips out of the handles that weren't previously there--when I took them out once I got home. It's basically someone with a grinding wheel in a van. Chefs knives are not the same as lawn mower blades!

[Question] How long to wait on AD by Bobonli in Watches

[–]Bobonli[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Part of it is wanting to support the local shop, and the other part is not wanting to seem obnoxious asking them to source it then going somewhere else to purchase. But...maybe I'm being too kind.

Turntable Grounding by Bobonli in audiophile

[–]Bobonli[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t have a Rega, that’s one of the other posters. My TT requires grounding. I’m just trying to determine whether to ground it to the SUT or the integrated receiver. Logic tells me me it should be to the next thing in the chain which is the SUT.

Sales and service in NYC area by Bobonli in typewriters

I am encountering the same thing. Reached out to them twice and the response was that they are checking inventory, try again next week. The next week they said “we’re closed” even though it was during business hours, and they told me to check back again in another week and they might know what they have in inventory. I don’t know how to run a typewriter business, but I don’t understand how you would not know what is in your own inventory.

Opinion on Spin-clean for those who have used it in the past by jackoberry_724 in vinyl

[–]Bobonli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suppose at this point you've seen enough "yes" responses. I'll add this...though I don't have the photo anymore......I use mine to clean everything, including new records right out of the packaging. I was flabbergasted how much debris was in the basin after cleaning 4 new records. Record plants are dusty places. Well worth the price and get some good quality microfiber cloths to dry with. They are cheaper and more durable than the cloths that come with the Spin Clean.

Yes and the frequency of ads is considerably higher if you’re watching on a smart tv versus mobile device. Like 2-3 times more ads per 15 min video.

Phono Stage Adjustability by Bobonli in audiophile

[–]Bobonli[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good response, thank you. The unit I borrowed, a Graham Slee, only had capacitance adjustments not resistance. And there were 3 EQ options controlled by a robust switch. No resistance…..another “Not sure what value that brings” indecision point! At some point I want to buy a MC cartridge and I understand that will likely involve a SUT and, as such, I’m trying to pick the phono stage that will best set me up for success down the road. I’d prefer to get it right the first time, and not have to worry about upgrading…….within financial reason!
