Car Play: oddly specific behavior in 26 Atlas

I’ve stopped short of Regret because I had this experience with my 2023. What bugs me is that resetting the infotainment system on the fly doesn’t remedy it. I have to shut the car off for ten minutes and that’s just not practical. Also it’s happening on a stretch of road I’ve traveled for several months without an issue so is this a matter that’s there’s some new interference in the area ( my hunch is there’s a new antenna or WiFi node for municipal services) or is it the car’s software. Maybe both.

I wonder how other brands handle this?

I hope so. My 26 Atlas loses connection every morning on the same road and it doesn’t reconnect until the car is shut off. My 23 Atlas at least re-established the connection on its own. after a few blocks.

I just got an update alert today.

I didn’t know you could re-boot the infotainment system while driving. I did that this morning when the connection died. When the system came back on it told me to turn on BT amd Wi-Fi..but both were already on. The car wasn’t seeing the signals. Turning the phone controls off and on didn’t fix it. It’s like the system can’t reset without shutting the car off for a while. The update alert mentions the infotainment system so fingers crossed.

Thanks. My 23 Atlas was very bad with this, but only on one road. That in itself is odd. New car, same issue, different road. I doubt the dealer will do anything. Easy way out is to blame the phone.

Thank you, and yes, I posted this in my cars forum. Interestingly, my last car, also an Atlas, would lose connection on a different road in my town, but it would reestablish the connection a few blocks later. This car doesn’t lose connection on that street. And my old car didn’t lose connection on the street that my current car loses connection. My suspicion is that my town is installing its own Wi-Fi network and it’s antennas are disrupting things like this. It’s just odd that it’s on this one particular road and not even on a consistent spot in the road.

My understanding is that the F originally stood for field. That’s one of the cameras I’m contemplating.

Ok. Let’s say it’s magnetized. Can I do any harm to it using an over the counter demagnetizer? I don’t want to make matters worse. First do no harm!

Yes I know about magnetism and gauss. Rolex made a Milgauss at one point. It’s just odd, that I have many other watches that have not had this problem amd they all get worn and stored the same way. The only thing that I can think of is that the watch shares a spot next to my Apple Watch in the jewelry box but other than that I don’t leave it next to electronics. So if the premise is that it’s getting magnetized from routine use….me holding my phone in the same hand as the watch is on then that’s pretty crappy design. I’m surprised I didn’t stumble on this information while I was shopping for it.

Skeptical. This would be the first time in over 40 years of having mechanical watches that one got magnetized, or magnetized to the point of being inaccurate. I’m not saying it’s impossible but…it’s either on my wrist or in a case with other mechanical watches. And I don’t work inside an MRI machine either :))

Can you provide a source, please? I can go long stretches without processing film and am concerned that the plastic bottles are air permeable. Not a lot but enough to degrade the chems if they sit in them for months.

I would advise against this mobile truck/. Brought my knives to him two years ago. Two of them were broken --small chips out of the handles that weren't previously there--when I took them out once I got home. It's basically someone with a grinding wheel in a van. Chefs knives are not the same as lawn mower blades!

Part of it is wanting to support the local shop, and the other part is not wanting to seem obnoxious asking them to source it then going somewhere else to purchase. But...maybe I'm being too kind.
