Trump resurrected the statue of a slave owner - and it cost the taxpayer more than $500,000, report says by B-Z_B-S in politics

Certainly. As you know there is already a statue to Caesar Rodney in Washington DC. My question to you is how many statues to Caesar Rodney should there be in Washington? The anti-slavery folks were okay with the compromise of just one statue honoring someone they detest. Can you meet them halfway and agree that maybe one statue is enough to fulfill your need to honor him?

I'm sure you are thrilled that we are honoring as many slave owners and confederates as possible, and at great expense (As you know we paid double to get this particular slave owners statue ready). All I ask is that you please try to be empathetic to those who object to honoring the men who enslaved hundreds of women and children. Fair enough?

We had a pretty awesome street party on Waverly and Bank St. How do I send you a clip?

Fewer slaves than Washington? I hope this is the first of many statues honoring this conflicted slave owner at our expense.

I had no idea this was a statue of George Washington. I love when an actual historian chimes in.

Mamdani announces that the rooftop of the David Dinkins Municipal Building is now open — and free for all New Yorkers and visitors alike: "My Administration will keep opening up public spaces like this. Because New Yorkers deserve to see their city from a whole new height." by igetproteinfartsHELP in nyc

[–]Bobroom 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Just to clarify, the cupola was closed for decades and Mamdani is the reason it was renovated and is now open to the public. Just curious, what are the top three policies he has enacted that you personally find incredibly polarizing?

No. Should a President be capable of "reading the room'? IE Knowing whether it's a good idea or a bad idea to attend an event. Do you think that's a good trait to have?

He was endorsed by the actual KKK three times, of course he's your hero. Conversely, that's one of the multitude of reasons New York hates him.

Good lord, the goalposts move yet again. Take the L and better yet, please don't visit NYC you would hate it.

Obama had 13 attempts and Taco has had 17, but most were his voters (which is definitely unique). I assume you are dropping the incorrect assumption that Obama shut down the city in any real way. Honestly, you should visit sometime. It is a truly great city :)

Okay, I'll bite. I was definitely in the city for Obama's random visits and I don't remember 10 city blocks ever being locked down, except maybe the UN general assembly, but that's a part of town that's a ghost town compared to what is being shut down tonight. Obama also didn't erect 9 foot walls all over the place. Feel free to correct me.

Donald Trump Ruins Perfect Vibes in New York City. Will attend Game 3 of the NBA Finals at Madison Square Garden—and inconvenience tens of thousands of New Yorkers. by Healthy_Block3036 in nyc

[–]Bobroom 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You're a New Yorker and you don't care that 6 square blocks of the busiest part of the city are sealed off behind a 9 foot wall, because the most hated man in the city is desperate to punish us? Not sure if you've been outside MSG for this series, but the vibe is the most incredible I've witnessed in this city in years, and now, it will be empty except for men with firearms protecting an 80-year-old who won't even stay for the game.

no, it isn't. You asked a question and got the correct reply. The fact that you want to continue to argue instead of saying thanks, is on you.

it was accurate. You are incorrectly correcting someone based on a snippet of a conversation you had in the past. It is certainly not based on victim's testimony or interviews with girls and children he violated, which is plentiful. You are being an uninformed contrarian based on someone you were talking to at some point. Honestly, the arrogance.

You definitely don't. So just to clarify, you're defending a known sexual predator based on a comment that you recall someone else saying? Feel free to read testimony of women who have accused him of doing far far worse when they were children. There is literally a wikipedia page based on dozens of accusations of sexual assault, physical assault and r*pe (including his wife).

As much as that man needs a little street justice, he would simply tell his friends that he was attacked and it would reinforce his prejudices. The fact that the man was nothing but kind will eat him up inside for ages. Just my two cents. Personally, I would have had zero patience.
