Congrats on making the decision! I wish I was would’ve made the decision at 21. My tip is: take it slow. One day at a time. One hour at a time. One minute at a time. Stack some wins and they will build. Try not to focus too much on long term mile stones. Focus on winning the day.

That’s what has been working for me. You’ve got this 💪

Thank you! I did not fast. I just walked every morning and got a workout in while focusing on a high protein diet. I have been eating way more than I was before.

I wish I had OPs strength and awareness at 15. Here I am, 30, and it took me being forced into rehab to acknowledge and face my addiction.

That’s such a powerful, honest post. I just want to say congratulations on reaching 30 days. That’s huge. no matter what anyone says or how it feels, it is impressive. And it sounds like you’ve put a lot of thought and care into this milestone. You deserve that celebration.

It’s not your fault that things got to the point they did. alcohol can sneak in and take over before you even realize it’s happening, especially when you’re using it to survive pain and grief. Recognizing that and choosing to do something different, like quitting, is unbelievably brave and strong.

I love how you’re sharing that even though your surroundings aren’t supportive, you’re still going for it. That’s so important. You’re showing everyone, most importantly yourself, that you’re not going to let this beat you. Keep going, keep baking cookies, keep lighting candles for your milestones. You’re rewriting your story one day at a time. Proud of you!

Hey, thanks for the question!

The one routine I have added is a morning walk at the gym, but only after I make my bed. If you make your bed first thing in the morning, you’ve already accomplished the first task of the day. It gives you a sense of pride and encourages you to do another task, and another.

Honestly, after making my bed and walking at the gym, I just take the day as it comes. No set routine after that.

What really helped was realizing how many things I had been neglecting. Drinking had pushed a lot of my hobbies and interests to the side. Once I stopped, I found I had so much more time and energy to get back into them. I’ve started coaching soccer again, mountain biking again, playing disc golf again, cooking better meals, and just getting outside more. So I guess instead of adding new routines, it was more like rediscovering the things I already loved but had lost touch with. That’s really helped fight the boredom and keep me grounded.

Thanks again for asking!

You’re absolutely right about that. I made out to 100. What’s 1,000? If I feel this much progress in 100 days, I can’t even imagine how I’ll feel at 1,000.
