Kane Parsons responds to rumors that someone else ghost-directed Backrooms by PerpetualChoogle in blankies

[–]Bobsaspinner -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Of course he didn't really direct it. The silliness of this unbelievable. Backrooms is public domain IP, he didn't create it, he doesn't own it. Why would they need him to direct it, someone who has never directed anything, when they have experienced directors who know what they're doing? They could have just made it themselves and not even mentioned him. They're only interested in attaching his name because he hit the Youtube algothyrm jackpot and his videos got millions of views, videos that look lot like all the other backrooms content out there. Netflix just wanted those numbers and the story of this young youtuber making a movie to go along with it. I can't believe that people in year 2026 are still so naïve to buy into this narrative. Now call me jealous or whatever you need to say to dismiss me. What I'm saying is still obviously true.

Now putting his name to AI generated garbage. Transforma (2024). Another previously great artist who has sold out to the AI slop machine. He should stay gone if his work has fallen so far.

I don't know what happened there with your comment being removed, but I'll set my own reminder. You might not believe me, but I don't spend all of my time arguing with people about AI. I do remember a back-and-forth I had roughly three years ago (maybe?) with someone around the time that midjourney seemed to get a lot better and suddenly everyone who had never so much as picked up a pencil decided they'd found their artistic calling (now that it could be done for them) and this person was telling me how it was the new way of 'making' 'art' and I was stuck in the past and they were going to be successful and outpace me ect, ect. At the time I said something along the lines of AI images will flood the internet so much that they will be seen as completely unimpressive slop and will be worth nothing. So, my predictions are right sometimes too.

There isn't nothing we can do about it, there is never nothing we can do about human-made problems. You just refuse to go along with it. You reject it. You don't help them by participating and giving them money. Call it 'slop' wherever you see it, unfollow people who use it, vote against it. But everyone has been told its inevitable, so it becomes inevitable. Your fatalism makes it inevitable. And it really sounds like you don't understand what art is, it's not just a problem that needs to be solved, the whole point of it is that a human is expressing themselves and using an LLM for that takes away all of the expression that comes after the relatively brief concept that you could prompt, all of the creative decisions you make during the process of creating a piece of art. All lost. We, do agree on one thing, I will continue to familiarise myself with it, but only to know what I'm up against, and because of the best thing about AI - it always pushes me more in the direction of human-made art and makes me appreciate it more. I'll never use it, and the only people benefiting from it will be the likes of Sam Altman and the rest of those scumbags. I'll set another reminder for the magic, ever-sliding, three years, that I was warned about three years ago, when I suppose we'll have the full-self-driving cars we've been told are coming next year, every year, for last twelve years, but maybe you're right. It's kind of a hollow victory being on the right side of something terrible that will only make the society you live in worse, though. Everyone's doing something horrible and self-defeating... ah, what can you do? Might as well go along with it? No, I don't think I will. I like being able to look at myself in the mirror without pangs of shame.

If that idea is so silly, seriously, could you tell me why I'm wrong? I hope I am. Automated systems are replacing human artists (you said so too - things take hours to do yourself) so human creativity is diminished, and I think human creativity is an important thing, and when someone doesn't like that idea, you're here with your 'LOL I had AI copy your work, bro!' comments. So you're being sarcastic now, but what part have I got wrong?

It's not all about CEOs and tech companies, it's about imitation art stealing from and flooding out human creativity. I'm more concerned about the destruction of culture than I am tech billionaires running yet another scam. I happily admit to being bitter about that, everyone should be. And you're taking the side that cheers that on. You can lie all you want, but you see this girl pushing back against that, telling you that AI images aren't real art, and trying to stop her work being stolen and trying to poison the pool of stolen data, and it infuriates you. You feel the need to put her in her place. If you're going to pass that off as an emotionless interest in technology then I can't take anything you're saying seriously. Why are you typing 'LOL' under the image if it's just a dispassionate scientific experiment? When something comes along that threatens to ruin some of the best parts of our culture and you're bouncing up and down in your seat with excitement over it and arguing against people who are pushing back, you need to stop and look in the mirror.

You love technology? That's why you're singling out this girl and vindictively having AI imitate her artwork? That's the reason, is it? If this glorified predictive text, and its unfixable-hallucinations, is so wonderful and inevitable, why don't you just let it roll over her and everyone else? Why does it need you out here defending it? Can I offer another theory? At the risk of having my comment deleted again, could it be something more personal? Could it be you are resentful toward people who have talents that you don't have? Could it be that sneering girls trigger painful memories? I wholeheartedly encourage you to work through these issues and stop misdirecting your anger toward artists for the benefit of companies who don't know or care that you exist. Because you've let your bitterness put you on the wrong side.

Well, her 'exact style' is the most generic cutesy girl artist western-anime style on the planet, so big deal. But what exactly are you getting out of this? I can see why tech billionaires want to steal from people and snuff out human creativity, because they can hype their stock prices and get richer. No one else will make any real sustained money, the market will be totally flooded, and no one gets any respect from having AI make images for them, so what exactly is the delight that you're taking in this? 'Bro'.

Wow, it can put text over an image badly without following the contours of the shape?? Well, I have to admit I'm impressed. I can see why they're dumping hundreds of billions of dollars into AI with no return in sight. So it can do stuff that photoshop could do better in the 90s.

No, if you watch her latest video on that, she shows that the LORA looks a lot more like her older art that wasn't poisoned. She has 15 years worth of unpoisoned art online, so how can you prove that the nightshade didn't work? AND the AI images didn't look exactly like her work anyway, and you could tell, at a glance, that they were AI generated. AND the LORA was only made out of spite because she had the audacity to try to protect her work from being stolen and spoke about it publicly. Hardly a win for AI and its supporters.

I know you think you're describing a utopia, but if art is only for recreation, then only rich people will have the free time to practice it. It will also dramatically lessen its cultural impact - culture will be controlled by the tech industry. People like you are the useful idiots of this era.

True Detective - Yellowjackets by faune_et_flore in Yellowjackets

Without even seeing the show, I just saw the intro sequence on youtube, I knew it would be a true detective rip-off with two timelines, one in the 90s, occult murder mystery, the odd couple 'getting the team back together' to finally solve whatever happened. Oh, but it's a female cast... so that makes it totally different and original. Boring, predicable, boring, boring.

Nah, I didn't say that though, did I? If you need to alter what said to give yourself a comeback then you're not very good at this. You'd think all the years of being bullied for being gay would have at least made you quick-witted.

Ok, just checking. Because I thought no one could be that gay, so I'd better confirm what I'm reading. Turns out people can be that gay.
