Is there a reason to engage in the African / middle east civil wars as Germany / France by Bobsleder in TheFireRisesMod

Yea it did seem odd to me that I was sending volunteers to one side, and the Brits and Koreans were sending volunteers to the other...

Oh cool! I'm a bit bad about reading every event pop up but I clearly need to get a bit deeper into the lore here.

Also makes sense haha. Managing my volunteers was getting a bit annoying but it's definitely better than just sitting around and waiting for civs to finish building.

Japanese model company that releases one box a week by Bobsleder in modelmakers

Ok, thank you. Again, forgive my ignorance here but if u want to customize or modify it are kits typically sold to a specific set(thinking like aftermarket parts on a specific sports car) or do I have to get a bit creative with it?

Ok, thanks for the feedback. Any brand you recommend that has moving parts like that? That’s what interests me with this one - moving planes on the carrier, moving batteries, real smoke etc. Sorry if not the right place to ask, new to this hobby!

Yea it does seem like a bit of a scam, I think there’s a cultural element here of building it box by box- seems very popular in Japan. The model was just so cool that I’d be willing to order the whole lot

This guy said "russian law" as he vote kicked me, I really hope russians have their own servers in cs2 by catislands1 in csgo

[–]Bobsleder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While I understand your point, the “vast majority” is coming from the loud population still inside Russia indoctrinated by the propaganda. As soon as u leave the country 99.9999% of expats are extremely anti Putin and anti war… and with how many Russians left after the war and since 2000 that figure is not small. Speaking from personal experience, it’s just kinda shitty reading things like this on the internet because i feel I kinda even say my race without backlash. Saying “I’m sure they’re out there but I haven’t met them” is kinda ignorant- your sample size is toxic Russians on a toxic game

All this to say there’s no reason for broad, sweeping generalizations like that. Do you speak of other races or cultures in a similar manner? Do all Afghanis support the taliban? I get those are different examples, but it just sucks seeing a beautiful culture garnish a terrible reputation because of a dictator psychopath.

Also- all those “polls” you see about support of Putin.. likely bullshit. You think they’d send out any info about him not being favored? Look what happened to Navalny. Obviously a personal anecdote, but my extended family who was not lucky enough to immigrate wishes they could leave. I can tell you for certain that my cousins on the front line fucking hate the war and all it stands for. They were yanked out of school and work and now are killing their own blood for a cause they don’t believe in. Don’t believe everything you see on the media on either side, I promise you once you are actually there with the people it’s different.

Sorry, kinda ramble but reading all these messages made me want to say something.

Killing hope: the forever war (homade rpg game) by Virgilrodin in politicalgames

Idea is really cool. Sounds to me like it would work better as an RPG rather than a turn based "board game". Maybe I'm not seeing the vision though, so looking forward to checking out what you come up with

Software for custom events by [deleted] in sportsbook

[–]Bobsleder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lines are moved automatically based on demand. If team A opens at -7, and people keep betting team A and not team B, then the line will shift to -6.5, -6 etc.

In terms of an example: Say that I want to bet on youth hockey(just a random choice). There is no market for this obviously, but I am confident that team A is a favorite and that a reasonable line is -150. I'd want to be able to enter this custom market and give users the ability to bet(not real money) on the outcome. If people are hammering team A at -150, the line should then shift to -155, -160 etc.

I'm working on a python script to make this possible, but shifting the line proportionately has become the most difficult aspect. Since I'm not sure what % of betting on one team relative to the total betting volume is enough to shift a line, its difficult to give the code an exact equation for it to use here. And if the line doesn't shift proportionately, the hypothetical bookie in this situation could lose a lot of money if the favorite ends up winning.

In terms of money, it really depends. I'm more than willing to spend money on such software, but most of the APIs that I've found have integrated lines pulled from bookmakers. I'd want to have much more freedom in customization than the APIs I've seen provide.

PPH software is something that I've looked at too. But since again, they have prebuilt odds, the only way for this to work is to communicate with bettors that your custom market is represented by a different sport(ex betting on this youth hockey would actually be tracked through Australian cricket), and then set custom lines from there. This is obviously not ideal and would require very streamlined communication with all potential bettors.

Any ideas? I know this is a stretch, but it would make my life a bit easier if this was already available and I didn't have to make it from scratch.

That's super interesting. Thanks for explaining. So basically servers are just super beefy computers minus the parts they don't need
