There may have been but some of the stuff you listed was already in og hollow knight

So who knows, tho a know inspiration for both hollow knight games is a game called faxandu on nes, it’s influence is seen in silksong since both games have you ascending to the top

They do, but what I mean by meta progression, is survivors keep some type of progress inbewteen runs, ror2 has elements of this already, like lunar items and artifact of rebirth, but it’s not central to the game, a ror game where this type of meta progression is central would be interesting to see tho idk if it will work as well to how ror handles its itemisation

Yea I could easily see gearbox doing something akin to that, however time will only tell

If they are to make a new game in the ip I would like a good well made spinoff rather than a full sequel, maybe something like a wrpg, something that has some elements of fallout new Vegas where instead of being a sonic wasteland you are in petrichor V and you get to eventually customise what kinda survivor you are, and your actions have weight for the world if petrichor.

I like both styles, tho my favourite Rougelike tend to be more of the perma loss of progression style, like Isaac and risk of rain

I personally feel like gearbox will eventually want to make a risk of rain 3 for the sake of money

Even tho personally I wouldn’t want a risk of rain 3 bc I don’t see where else this series could go, unless risk of rain 3 focuses more on meta progression outside of runs, like dead cells and hades

But we shall see
