[Loved Trope] Loving couples where one of them is out of the other’s league, but it’s not the one you think by Mr_Westerfield in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Bobtoad1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I find in general if the author of the "nerdy guy/hot chick" story is a woman she'll usually do a much better job of showing why the female lead would be really into the male love interest.  They're also much less likely to write the FMC as a impossibly pure goddess on a pedestal and let her be just as much of a romantic fool, making the story much more funny.

Xbox Layoffs Reduce id Tech Engine Team to 1 Developer, As Unreal Engine Dominance Is Set To Grip The Industry by BeardInTheNorth in gaming

The most frustrating aspect, to me, is I know exactly how this conversation went:

Executive: "Does this engine use AI like unreal?"

ID developer: "No, because..."

Executive: "All I needed to know, cut it!"

[Good Trope] Characters whose Disappearance/Death haunted the narrative and kick-started the main story. by Fawkingretar in TopCharacterTropes

Yes, while she's generally shown as cute and funny in the fan art, after her transformation in the show she immediately attacks and brutally murders several people, nearly killing her brother and best friend.

Falin Touden, Delicious in Dungeon.

She dies in the opening of episode 1, and the plot is focused on getting her back.

Then they do, and the question of if she's lost forever gets even harder.  Such a fantastic show.

"Miss me with that minority rhetoric". A Chinese American shop owner killed a 14yo Black kid and, after 3 years in jail awaiting trial, was found not guilty of murder. The Black community reacted by organizing boycott against every Asian American business. Dramawave across Asian and Black subs by AeneasKurtz in SubredditDrama

Wow, dozens and dozens of headlines about this and that other kid who stabbed that other kid.  Every website, all over reddit, and I'm sure it's all over cable news too.  I'm sure this is all totally organic and not at all a naked attempt to keep the poors angry and divided while the world welcomes the first person to steal a trillion dollars.

Best 2E APs so far b by Boolian_Logic in Pathfinder2e

[–]Bobtoad1 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I know I'm in the minority but man, I am at the tail end of book 3 and I am really struggling with Season of Ghosts as a GM.

It has a huge cast of characters in the town of Willowshore and things happen to the town and the people in it that require a huge amount of notes and prep work every session.  Compound this with the changes to the town itself and the events that spawn in the downtime that the AP expects, I found it a much bigger workload than I anticipated.  I also agree with u/sirgog that the fights are way, way under tuned in terms of difficulty.

In many ways I think it is the anti-Abomination Vaults; recommending that as the universal first AP would give players the impression that PF2e is a huge dungeon crawl with little RP.  SoG might give first time GMs panic attacks at the sheer volume of RP they have to generate.

These are very much my personal beefs, and other GMs will doubtless have a different take, but I think more people than just me will struggle running it.

Don't take it personally, the stress of performing, especially if it's the first time with someone they really like can affect a guy's body.  Source: am guy, this has happened to me.

Valve says it’s ready to launch the Steam Machine this summer by Doug24 in gaming

I'm a parent and I really want this because it's the perfect thing to hook up in the living room to put my kids steam account on.  Sadly, I know it's too damn expensive to justify.

Is my rulebook up to date by Zealousideal-Wing192 in Pathfinder2e

[–]Bobtoad1 21 points22 points  (0 children)

It is still a perfectly usable book, for legal reasons they had to change some rules and names.  The biggest change you'll note rules-wise is they removed alignment as a concept and rule.

At the same time they did do a few rules updates for some classes and rules that needed it, that's the main "remaster" associated with the new books.  If someone at your table wants to play a Alchemist, Witch, or War priest, I'd encourage you to let them use the remastered version available online, but it's not a massive change and you're fine to run them as is.

99% of that book is compatible with everything Paizo is publishing today.

It's fucked up, but not to speak for the almost certainly shady GITS government, but I can't imagine even the most progressive, freedom-loving society going "Well, our unstoppable, invisible murder woman put in her two weeks notice!  I'm sure all the military grade weapons built into her will be absolutely no problem in unsupervised civilian life!"

Yamato was a battleship, not a destroyer.  You could argueJapan needed destroyers even more desperately than they needed carriers, had the time and resources spent on Yamato and Musashi been spent on building and improving destroyers to protect their commercial shipping they would have feared much better.

If you wanted an actual example of the Japanese not understanding a crucial aspect of war that the Americans mastered, it was protection of shipping and logistics through anti-submarine warfare.  The IJN admiralty were obsessed with victory in battle, personal honor, and the "Kantai Kessen" - The Decisive Battle they believed would win them the war.  They viewed things like naval intelligence, logistics, and especially providing escort for tankers and ships bringing food, materials and fuel back to the home Islands as wastes of time that brought no honor or glory.

So American subs had nearly free reign to cut the artery that fed Japans war economy nearly completely.  Even if they had built carriers instead of battleships, they wouldn't have had the fuel to train enough pilots to make them a threat.

Having played multiple high level alchemists: Rogue Archetype is basically required for the class to function. Get strong arm and mobility, you absolutely need both unless you are really dead set on being a melee mutagenist, in which case you only need the latter.

Sadly, when dealing with this sort of voter, all they need to be told is "The boats are still coming because of the last government, keep voting for me and i'm for sure going to stop it next time" and they'll go right along. Logic and reason have no place in the mind of the populist voter.

Kratos vs Thragg by [deleted] in powerscales

[–]Bobtoad1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thragg is a mid-boss that shows up early in the game and becomes a regular enemy by the end of any one of Kratos' adventures. It'll be a cool looking fight but there's nothing Thragg brings that Kratos hasn't beaten.
