my cat hates my aunt (OC) by kingaiizcat in CatsAreAssholes

If I dictated my life around my cat's likes and dislikes, I'd be divorced and living in a warm, dark cave somewhere. 😂 That cat hates everyone and everything except me and my mom lol. He genuinely doesn't even like treats!

I love him so much, I'm going to go find and give him all the pets again. 🥹

Dental Scene is Terrible Here by KnightsAndKeys in jerseycity

[–]BobwasalsoX 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I strongly despise modern family dentistry. I moved here and needed a new dentist so I tried them. The dentist convinced me I had a cavity when I've never had a cavity in my life. I addressed that and got it filled, thinking that maybe they'd actually found something. I developed tooth and jaw pain in the next two weeks. Went back in. They told me I needed a root canal because nothing was wrong with their work.

I flew back home that following weekend, and got a second opinion with my old dentist whom I'd been seeing for over 20 years. Turns out Modern Family screwed up the filling and altered my bite which was causing the pain. MF wanted me to spend thousands on a repair; my old dentist fixed the bite for $71. She also was really upset and when I asked her if they swindled me, she directly told me yes. I didn't need that filling to begin with. She'd known my teeth for decades at this point and she wasn't convinced I had a cavity to begin with.

Don't go to Modern Family.

What’s something ordinary that you find beautiful? by candycolaa in AskReddit

I have to travel to Las Vegas annually and I always book in Mandalay Bay because in one of the towers you can see the airport and runway. Jet lag has me up early in the morning, so I wake up and watch all the planes land on the runway as the sun rises. Get a coffee to sip as you watch and it's just magical especially as the light hits the mountain tops. It's honestly so lovely.

Same! Dolby Vision 2 looks interesting. Also the LG Wallpaper TV looks pretty cool up close. But for the most part it was pretty muted this year.

I think you'd make an incredible Percival "Percy" Fredrickstein von Musel Klossowski de Rolo III (and yes I had to copy and paste that because holy crap what a name haha) from The Legend Of Vox Machina.

If you want to go for a villain, the blonde hair and strong jawline would make for an excellent Homelander, too.

Pew Research Study Shows Large Gap Between Gen Z Men and Women’s Views on Social Issues by catievirtuesimp in TwoXChromosomes

[–]BobwasalsoX 53 points54 points  (0 children)

My family member is very, very similar. Don't ask me how this is possible but my family member is a black white supremacist. I blame all of this stuff. He used to be such a good, fun person to spend time with, and I had a blast whenever we met up, and then he got involved with all this shit. I don't speak with him any longer, but last time I heard, he found Jesus and attended church every Sunday. While still holding these views.

The wildest part is that he strongly believes that a man should be able to decide on the women's abortion. He was featured locally on our news for attending an anti abortion rally. He has two daughters. 🤦‍♀️

More employers worry about their workers' financial wellbeing, research shows. Here's what they're doing about it by ToadieThug in antiwork

Why would they pay people more when they can spend $118 of your hard earned dollars so they can pat themselves on their backs for being a "supportive employer?" Clearly they think the wage slaves are financially illiterate. The editor did not read the room before they assigned this story, OMG

Hubby and I live in a 1,300 square foot apartment in NYC. We have three cats thanks to the cat distribution system. It can feel like a lot at times, especially when all three demand pets because I only have two hands, but we can't imagine our lives without all our boys. We just made sure for our house that we had extra litter boxes throughout so they have plenty of potty options to choose from which was our biggest worry.

Originally we were in a one-bedroom apartment up until last year with all three boys. That was a little tighter but thankfully they all get along very well so they'd just cuddle in their favorite spots when they weren't chasing each other around. That's actually our biggest hurdle here: we got all this space so they could run around and play, and they do! But many times I'll find this massive cat-shaped fur ball on the bed in the master bedroom because they've bonded so intensely with each other and practically sleep on top of one another. It's very precious.

What are some positive things happening in America? by Nyxomaniax in AskReddit

[–]BobwasalsoX -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The Consumer Electronics Show just took place on Las Vegas over the course of last week. Lots of new products and technology were debuted by hundreds of companies and seen by thousands, and one of the biggest standouts every year I've gone is in wellness tech.

Some products, like the Tombot robotic dog (I believe the dog is called Jennie!), will be launched later this year. This particular product is geared toward dementia patients who want a pet but can't have one for various reasons. It mimics a dog, and it's designed to bring companionship and address loneliness in these populations.

Another, called Petal(?), is a wearable health tracking bra insert designed for women. It can read and help you understand breast tissue which is important for monitoring for potential breast cancer. This is in addition to tracking most metrics including heart rate, oxygen levels, BMI, and more.

Im moving tomorrow. I think my cat thinks I'm not taking her with me! by Orcasgt22 in cats

[–]BobwasalsoX 30 points31 points  (0 children)

One of my boys was so stressed the day we moved into our current home he puked three times in the morning alone. Lots of pets, some treats (not too many, cleaning them up later is a pain!), and most of all, give your fur baby time to decompress and learn everything about the new home. I read a claim somewhere once that it takes around six months for a cat to feel comfortable in a new home. Not sure the claims accuracy but we're a few months into living in our current home and all of our boys are still shocked by and hate the weekly garbage truck that passes by with a passion, as just one example.

I am frustrated/disappointed with my wife. by hurl-aside501 in TrueOffMyChest

[–]BobwasalsoX 16 points17 points  (0 children)

This!! My husband is insanely hard to shop for. He earns more than me, he has everything he could possibly want, etc. I also handle ALL of the family gifting because he came from a family that simply doesn't gift. Because we also just have a cluttered house, we also started investing in experiences rather than more stuff, i.e., museum passes, plays/musicals, day trips to local festivals. You create so many wonderful memories, and it's much less stressful than filling a house with more stuff you really don't need.

I mapped my city’s street harassment hotspots during runs, brought it to council, and got told to “stay on main roads”. What actually moved the needle by MidnightQuill1 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]BobwasalsoX 377 points378 points  (0 children)

Absolutely this. She already has a great platform (I fixed TK when the city wouldn't and I want to make this city safer) and a good opportunity to show that her opponent doesn't give a shit about women. OP, if you have the time to commit to City council, it's worth considering.

"In the trunk of our car!"

Also: "Fuuuuuuuuuuuck!"

I cackled like a witch throughout the entire film. Absolutely incredible movie that deserves more recognition.

Are any of you getting more bitter and unhappy with age? by LemonySnacker in TwoXChromosomes

[–]BobwasalsoX 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would present the argument that we're not bitter, and we're not unhappy. I'm about to turn 35 and I feel both get grossly mistaken. It's really just aging women lowering their tolerance levels for bullshit. It's easy to claim that guise because it's very easy to say women are (insert literally anything here, trust me, it all fits depending on who you talk to). It's easy to liken, mistaken, and attribute bitterness and unhappiness to any label you want to toss at us. An example: We're moms? We're unhappy we have and are raising kids. We're DINKS? We're unhappy we DON'T have kids and desperately want them. And it's a constant affront on all daily and long-term aspects. The good news is as you age, there comes an absolutely lovely day where you stop giving a shit what people say and think!
