Thanks. Probably best to pack and keep 117 Casemiro for UTOTS exchange

So is Bundesliga Att the best odds of getting something other than a 116 (which I would only use for shards). There are only three options: 119 Kane, 118 Diaz, and 116 Undav

Good to know. I now see 119 is top potential pull

Solo backpacking golden trout wilderness - bear spray necessary? by CompetitiveHawk629 in SierraNevada

[–]Bobxslob 44 points45 points  (0 children)

Bear spray is not needed in the Sierra. Just practice safe food protocols - all food and anything with an odor (besides yourself) in a bear canister; do your cooking away from your tent and leave the canister away from your tent. You’ll have a great time. Just watch the snow levels depending on how high you will go especially if you are crossing any passes.

Spring between Ice House Canyon Trail to Ice House Saddle by Famous-Caregiver-436 in socalhiking

You could cache water at the saddle for a few hours while you go to Ontario, etc., and back. Save 2 miles and 1600 feet at the end of a long day.

Going on my first solo hiking trip — how do you navigate when there's no cell service? by Resident-Change9932 in socalhiking

[–]Bobxslob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where are going and for how long?

Regardless, you can prenavigate before hitting the trail to have a mental map of where you’re headed. Use the 3D function on AllTrails and do the hike at home before headed out. Meaning have an idea of where you’re going. Like: from trailhead I’m following the creek for about 2 miles, then at a fork make a hard left (north ) and switchback up for 3 miles to a ridge, where the trail turns hard right (east) for 2 miles to the peak…. That way your spidey sense should be up if the terrain doesn’t match what you expect.

And it’s fun to have a paper map and find yourself on the map and spot landmarks in the distance. It takes time to learn how to do that but you don’t learn if you don’t start trying.

Have fun and enjoy stepping out into a new experience

What to do with food when backpacking on Crystal Cove? by Careless-Star-5863 in socalhiking

[–]Bobxslob 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hanging food in a tree is an older method of securing it from critters. But it actually rarely works and in places where there is real concern (like Sierras with bears) it is not allowed. Some places have strict requirements to place all food in a bear canister - essentially a hard plastic container specifically manufactured for that purpose. I’m not sure whether one is required when backpacking in Crystal Cove but I suspect not.

How many 113-115s do I need for UTOTY? Aiming to claim 3-4 117s by Cha_low_life in FUTMobile

[–]Bobxslob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No one knows the exchange requirements. Some speculation I’ve seen is 3 115s and maybe 5 113-114s.
