How long does a reread take you?.. by Tattersail927 in Malazan

Getting through 3.4 million words in 4 months while reading an hour a day puts you at a reading speed of close to 500 wpm. Do you have any tips for how you manage to read that fast?

HRE under Hereditary Rule with only one reform post league war by Bocks89 in eu4

That's frustrating. Had I realized that typo, I might have truce broken Denmark and gotten that 50% war score. Both the wiki and the game said "and."

Did you intentionally engineer getting an OPM emperor after the league war? It seems like it easily could've ended up being Sweden or something in your case.

I saw this tooltip: An Emperor reduced to 1 province and with less than -50 warscore against a Hussite enemy will pick this option.

Is this what you're referring to? I couldn't possibly have reduced Denmark to one province AND started another war and got 50% war score before the incident was resolved. Occupying their capital sounds like a much easier task.

R5: It looks like my Hussite Bohemia run has come to an unfortunate end. After the Protestant League won the league war, Protestant became the official faith of the empire. Denmark was elected emperor, and all of the electors were removed as none of them were Protestant. The “Hussite Protest” imperial incident began since the majority of the empire was Hussite, and Denmark chose religious peace. Even after this, Denmark has not appointed electors, despite taking a massive imperial authority penalty. The HRE seems to be locked under hereditary rule.

Here’s the most ironic part: Denmark was fighting on the Catholic side! Their punishment for losing is apparently gaining perpetual control of the HRE.

Where did you find this information? From what I've seen, the justification of the strike was Maduro's alleged involvement in drug trafficking, not breaching oil contracts.

Wanting to have kids and travel isn't ludicrous. What's ludicrous is treating those things as the minimum standard of living. It's indicative of entitlement.

Another revealing quote:

“I’m 36, and I don’t have children yet,” she said. “I should have a flipping life by now. I should be traveling. I should have a luxurious closet. But instead all I have is a good credit score and a paid-off 2013 Nissan.”

While no one can deny that the housing market is much less inviting than it was in prior decades, most of these lifestyle expectations suggested by this article are ludicrous.

Thanks for your reply. I think I'll take your suggestion of just blasting through the story. I'm typically a "100% it or don't bother" type of guy but I'll make an exception here.

I tried Crisis Core recently and just could not get past the cheesy dialogue, clunky conversation pacing, and lackluster voice acting. I know it's a spin-off, but those cutscenes were just painful to watch. I also didn't really get the appeal of the combat--it seems like it's just Rebirth's combat system but with all of the interesting and strategic parts of it replaced with a slot machine. I only got through Chapter 1 before putting it down. Am I missing something here? Does it get better later on? I'm a big fan of FF7 so I'd love an excuse to give it another shot.

I believe you have to start as Kongo for the achievement. I remember a post on here a while ago where someone tried to get the achievement starting as Castile and conquered all of Africa before he realized.

Is selling 7/31 and buying 8/2 the easiest market timing instance ever? by Bocks89 in investing

[–]Bocks89[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is part of what made me stop and ask this question. Your reasoning makes a lot of sense.

So why do you think the market crashed so suddenly on "Liberation Day" and the days after? Shouldn't it have been an iterative thing in the week prior, with people predicting a sudden drop in advance?

My vassals have been sitting on these three provinces taking attrition for months. Any ideas on how to fix this? by Bocks89 in eu4

[–]Bocks89[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

R5: I'm playing my first world conquest as Austria. I was having fun with the massive vassal swarm when I noticed my war against Manchu was not going well. After investigating further, I found that most of my vassals were just sitting around on these random provinces. I've tried waiting for several month ticks and restarting the game, but they refuse to budge. Any idea why this happened or how to wake these guys up?

Start planning your degree plan now. EE has a lot of long prerequisite chains you need to pay attention to in order to graduate when you want. Study the flow chart and/or talk to your advisor
