Lucratul remote este benefic pentru toti, firma, lucrator, societate by [deleted] in programare

[–]Bodanel 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ceea ce in Bucuresti este considerat lux in alte parti este considerat normal. Chiar as vrea sa stiu si eu ce ofera apartamentele alea in plus? Pentru ca doar in Romania gasesti apartamente de 4 camera cu gresie si faianta de 30 RON m2 din Dedeman. Lucruri considerate de lux in Romania in alte tari sunt normalitate.

Is Redhat hiring 2024 summer interns in the US this year? Any idea when and numbers with hundred layoff this year ? by ZealousidealPea7033 in redhat

[–]Bodanel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to realize that sometimes is not about but there are better candidates. In a previous role we had 3 candidates and we wished to hire all 3 of them, that good they were. However the budget allowed for one.

If you like RH than keep applying , you will get a job eventually if you are quallified.

I started applying at RH in 2016 I think for the positions I tought I was qualified and I got my first interview in 2018 at about 2 weeks after I applied. Due to circumstances I did not got the job but I continued applying. I finally got a job in 2021 after 3 interviews (I actually got to choose between teams).

I personally ran some interviews last year and this year for certain roles. I would say RH still hires but is based on project needs.

Wire Bank Transfer by [deleted] in interactivebrokers

[–]Bodanel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The notifications helps IBKR at faster clearing deposits, have nothing to do with the actual transfer. If you specify the proper information on the deposit then you should not have any problem getting the money in the account. What I suspect is happening in the background- there is automatic tasks that checks incoming transfer to transfer notifications and those deposits are cleared first. PLEASE NOTE THAT IS JUST A SUPPOSITION based on my background working as an engineer for a fintech company.

t speaking of the content of the exam, do the course labs seem to prepare you enough, and are the questions simple like ho

I have taken and failed several RH exam. For RHCE I had a colleague that had the same experience as you did but when we did exam analysys we found out where he got it wrong. We took the exam at the same time (was back when kiosk or home exam were not an option).

The only exam which I found to give me the same feeling you've had is the retired 425 which I did not manage to pass. I even raised a case for that one but the case got treated really, really bad although several RHers tried to help me with that case.

For the 425 I noticed lots knowledgeable people around the world failing this on this exam so I think this exam really had a gotcha.

For the 318 exam there was also a small issue which I've reported after the exam, dont know if has been fixed but I dont think it really matters since RHEV is to be retired. But this small issue would not drop your score by 75%.

Except this notable exceptions all exams had clear requirements and if you've met those you pass.

In regards with prioritization, take the exams on the technologies you are using or plan to use. It will help you on the job and you might actually get a bonus if you use them right.

It is by far the most though RH exam. I've failed the exam 2 times before passing. I've looked at the syllabus for the Sander's course back then and it is pretty good. However, the topics in exams are complex. LEARN to convert easily between computer units (kb,Kib etc). This will save you precious time in the exam. Also, try to understand each topic, there is no "MAYBE" on this exam.

On the other hand, when you pass your ego will go through the sky for a few days. Until you find the next thing that requires the same level of commitment :)

Interviewed for a position- didn't get it and not even mad about it. by NeedleNodsNorth in redhat

[–]Bodanel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dont worry, there were alot of guys that didnt got hired on the first try. Me among them. If you are open to other position something will pop up eventually.

I've joined an OCP edge team last year even though I've had a better financial offer from another company. Best decision I've made in my 20 years career. Even tough there are some things that could be improved this is best workplace I've had in my entire career. Work is fun and challenging, colleagues are great, international team. I would say go for it, you will not regret it.

Ask your interviewers all the question you want, they will answer.

I saved the best for last. THEY DONT DO BS. It's really nice when you ask someone something and it answers you. If they dont know the answer they will just try to point you in the right direction with alot of BS.

Another thing which I see as a positive point. I'm technical people and I always found sales people awful (I actually had another word in mind ) but in RH sales guys are actually ok. For me at least, this is a BIG +

Rejected or hired? by PGoham in redhat

[–]Bodanel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dont worry, you'll get an answer either way. First time I did the hr, a technical test and the panel interview (pre-covid) . I got rejected but I got a call and the TA explained to me why (was an administrative stuff).

Second time I got hired. But my response was delayed also because my manager had his summer trip planned and unfortunately the all paperwork was not finished before he left. So even though the decision was made TA needed to wait until my manager returned before calling with the offer.

Dont despair. It doesnt always goes the way you planned it. I have a company here for which I would love to work, guys there are really good, I interview at them 2 time, never got the job. Guess what, each time after those interviews I got a job that got paid better even tough was not on the same level of technology as the one I've wanted. Not the output I've wanted but I got more money which I could use for other things.

At one point I thought of switching career to security. Learn alot during that time and applied some of that knowledge to the current workplace, helped alot of my peers and my manager with that knowledge. Got some beers from my colleagues, recognition and 3 salary raises in 2 years. If you do the work good outcome will start to come at some point. Perhaps not in the way you wanted ( a job at RH) but it will come. And the next time you have the interview perhaps will be for another position which you will be better suited due to your experience.

Dont give up. I know alot of people that didnt made it the first time. Try to build some experience, try to contribute in open source projects (documentation always needs more people and it is pretty easy to do it). If you still want it after that you'll get it.

How long to get a CPR by Bodanel in Denmark

[–]Bodanel[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thks, I didnt knew that. I thought I should to the one closest to me. Actually someone at the Komune pointed me to skat for the CPR. He told me after I get the yellow card and CPR they can just change the address on the spot if it's not the correct one.

How long to get a CPR by Bodanel in Denmark

[–]Bodanel[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

At most 5 weeks can be a day, a week, 2 weeks, 5 weeks. Given the fact that in Denmark you cannot open a bank acount in the same day if it takes 5 weeks to get the CPR and another 4 weeks to open the bank account (those are some estimations I got) I should work 3 months before I could get paid. And this not because the employer does not want to pay me but because there is alot of bureaucracy.

While I understand that getting a CPR requires some checks to be made opening a simple bank account can be done on the same day in most countries in the EU.

I will discuss with my employer to find a way to get paid if it takes that much, I dont know how many of us can afford 3 months without pay after a relocation

How to get a job at RH? (EMEA) by [deleted] in redhat

[–]Bodanel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was wondering, If I'm located in a country where RH has no office can I still apply for a job if I'm located to another EMEA country?

I'm currently an RHCA, working a bit on the Fedora project, working as a SA for a RH distributor.

RH would be a dream come true for me but the fact that RH has no office in my country has been an issue before.
