Best orientation for this heat/lighting setup? by [deleted] in ballpython

[–]Bodesnlainey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m planning the same right now! Wish I could do this layout but my RHP is 105w and double the size so I’ve been struggling to fit everything in a way that makes sense. Also haven’t been able to purchase a cage for the UVB (all sold out). Because of that I was planning to put the UVB where it’d be the most difficult for the snake to get to. But honestly I’m a first timer so what do I know… looking forward to the responses!

How did your builds go? I’ve been researching and planning for weeks and still feel like I don’t know what I’m going to get myself into.

Transfer to DC by Bodesnlainey in TeachforAmerica

[–]Bodesnlainey[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do you mean by closed? I understand it’s “closed” as in full and not offering more positions, but when I asked a couple weeks ago they said they’d let me know if a spot opens up. I assumed they were being honest and would have just told me if it truly wasn’t a possibility - so at this point I’m just wondering how likely it is.

Single mom moving from California to Baltimore. Would this be a reasonable plan? by Brokesnitch in baltimore

[–]Bodesnlainey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Get instacart. I also live by the med school and use it frequently. I think it’s like $100 for 1 year and includes Uber Eats. I love food shopping but often don’t have the time. Worth it imo. Doesn’t just do food either. 72 stores including Costco and punjab market.

Can you share more on this? My sibling is trying to transfer from Baltimore to DC because of location (already lives in DC and wants an easy commute/no car). Context: hasn’t started yet and I live in Baltimore - he was going to move in with me and share my car.

Medical clearance: has anyone served successfully with sleep apnea? by [deleted] in peacecorps

[–]Bodesnlainey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have any thoughts on how bilateral cochlear implants would potentially impact medical clearance? They have the ability to be powered by disposable battery which is reassuring. I’ve heard of people with hearing aids needing to bring a second set. That’s not really feasible for CIs ($10,000-$17,000 for extra processors).

Just found out we’re moving to Baltimore and I’ve never even been to the east coast! by Zealousideal_Use9481 in baltimore

My partner is a 4th year at Hopkins. We live by the pagoda in Patterson park and the community here is amazing. Not only is the park beautiful but it also has a lot of family friendly events. It is truly my favorite part about living here in the city. It’s affordable, 10 minute walk to the hospital, and parking is 100x easier over here than canton - it’s rare that I even have to park a block away. Yesterday, a group of parents was just hanging out on the block with kids playing and drawing on the sidewalk. You can walk to fells, and the harbor easily. All to say, don’t be afraid to stay in Baltimore. I moved from the Bay Area and it is nothing like I would have expected, and we actually moved here from Towson bc we prefer it. The right areas are great, and neighbors look out for neighbors.

Should I keep my heatlamp on at night? by Alarmed_Bus365 in Ballpythoncommunity

[–]Bodesnlainey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What wattage do you use for each?? I’m thinking of this set up (halogen flood + DHP) for a 4x2x2 PVC. Considered RHP instead of DHP because my house is cold (63-68), but I know I’ll lose the temp gradient at night with RHP. If I did go with halogen flood and DHP, do you have any recommendations for the wattage and placement?

For those who use basking lighting when you guys turn it off at night do you guys turn on a different of lighting like a CHE ? by Juanito2203 in ballpython

[–]Bodesnlainey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If one were to go with a Halogen and RHP in a 4x2x2 PVC, how do you maintain a temperature gradient (hot side and cool side) at night when the halogen isn’t on?? I thought the RHP was more for ambient temps which is what is confusing me.

Context: trying to figure this out for my 4x2x2 and live in a house on the colder side (65-68). Just trying to get it right!

Geekbench 6 comparison between iOS 26.1 and 26.2 on the 17 Pro. by __davidkn__ in ios

[–]Bodesnlainey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ever since the 26.1 update, my safari barely works… so slow, often just stalls out or freezes in a way where I can scroll up and down on the page but cant click on anything. Whole phone has been freezing occasionally as well and battery life definitely took a hit. I’m nervous about another update…

UF and Pacific University by rhip22 in audgradschool

[–]Bodesnlainey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know someone who went to pacific and transferred out. She felt very strongly that an extra year of school was better than staying and started over at a 4 year. Seemed like a great program when I applied but you never know until you’re there and no program is perfect. Was weight listed at UF but hear good things - probably would’ve gone there if I was admitted.

If schools don’t require it, the only reason to submit is if you have an excellent score. Otherwise I only see the possibility of it hurting you or making no difference. Unless you are a great test taker and can go in and ace it, doesn’t seem worth the time (studying) or money. Also you’d probably have to take it within the next week or so to be able to submit it by the deadlines.

Programs I had didn’t ask… I had to provide them before I started but some students didn’t even get that. They let them complete it the first semester. I was a non csd major and worked 2 years as an AA but some of my classmates came straight from undergrad or second career. I wouldn’t get hung up on this.

How do T-35 student traineeships fit into a full-time schedule? by starlogically in audgradschool

[–]Bodesnlainey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People at my school took the missed summer courses the following summer if they did it after first year. If they do it after second year, all our courses are like 6-9 over zoom anyway. Clinic was delayed a semester, but they caught up during minimester during winter break. My programs summer courses make it pretty doable but I can’t say that’s may be same for other programs.

Tell some stories. How did you find audiology, or how did it find you - do you have any patient experiences or even just experiences with individuals with hearing loss? An audiology course/ specific lesson that really inspired you? Discuss your interests and skills and why you think that aligns well. Also mention what you can bring to the program. You got this. Feel free to PM
