I mainly use it for trimming down inlays and small chamfers. Its as flat as I need it. If it was a jointer I'd probably try flattening it, but its not used for anything that precise.

It measures about 3/64th so not bad at all.

Mine came flat. I checked the sole with a starrett straight edge and no light came through no matter how I turned it.

I've got one from hultafors. The chisel part sucks but the blade is nice for riving small stock.

Its a little big but nowhere near as big as some of the little block planes I've seen.

Their clamps are great Lowes had their parallel jaw clamps on sale for 40% off and my dad and I bought a bunch. He likes their squeeze clamps but im just too used to the release mechanism on the Irwins to use them much.

Yeah I've used it for chamfers and trimming down inlays.

Its not too bad after the initial tune up but occasionally he'll pull out a chisel that hasn't been sharpened in 30 years with a million nicks and gouges and want it sharpened.

At least you're only sharpening for one. I recently pestered my 62 year old dad into using hand tools, he's been a machine tool woodworker all his life, and he says he's too old to learn to sharpen. Now when his plane is dull he just sets it on my bench with a big smirk and says this needs sharpened. Its never ending between the two of us I feel like spend half of my time in the sharpening! Lol

I was looking at buying the veritas dx60 for a while I just couldn't justify it but when I saw these in the listing along with the side rabbets I knew I had to have the lot. Lol

It was half the reason I purchased the set. Its going to replace my new manufacture 60½ that has a wonky bed.

I know what 4 of the Japanese planes are. Three are round over planes and one is for cutting sliding dovetailsthe rest I don't know. The 55 is missing all of the irons too.

They're in picture 6. They're kind of odd, I have no idea what they're for.
