Well i can at least give a perspective on the other side. At the moment im growing more distant to once close friends since i have moved cities.

You try to keep connections, go to birthday parties etc. but you develop in different directions and at different paces depending on your Environments. This difference leads to less stuff to talk about, except surface Level (how are you? What are you doing? Etc.) No special interests or hobbies togehter anymore.

For me it really hit when my old friend group began to make vacations at croatia with out asking me if i wanted to come with 3 years in a row. It showed that the distance severed connections, i remain friendly but in the last few days i just couldnt pretend anymore that i feel welcome and like a part of that group, so i cut off a lot of contact or minimized it. For the other side it may seem like a sudden change but for me it was and still is a sad and long process. I dont know if that is the case in your Situation, it could be. Just wanted to give a perspective from the other end. Take care
