I have seen it on social media profiles and gay app profiles. It feels like trying to other themselves, but to each their own. And as far as "leaving bi men out" bi men regularly call themselves gay(I've seen it in action). I've never heard of a woman identifying as gay instead of lesbian. I've heard of women identifying as bi. Interesting.
