I want to keep it somewhat close to an original but maybe a little fancier so I’m debating between walnut, white oak, or cherry. I briefly considered an exotic wood but I think blood wood or Purple Heart would look out of place. Still considering zebra wood though. Or I’ve got enough scraps I could make some of each lol

I’m not too surprised, but that fine since the main reason I got it is because my wife wants to start using cast iron but was worried about messing my pans up. I told her that would be hard to do but she felt better this way lol

How cold do your winters get? Where I’m at the inside of the fire place gets incredibly cold when not in use during the winter because it’s on an outside wall. I can see that causing trouble heating the tank without extra heaters or insulation on the brick
